Anybody here into or have a lifted truck? I am thinking about lifting my Toyota truck about 3" and throwing some different wheels on it. Any recommendations on shops in the bay area that can install, because I plan on buying the lift kit online. Im sure there are a lot of shops up north, but id like to stay local.
thanks for any input.

have you decided on a specific brand lift?
you might want to take a look around on Tacomaworld.com
theres a ton of knowledge people on that site that are happy to help you find the best one

i was lookin on bilsteinlifts.com and found some good kits, and im on tacomaworld.com now

I've been considering the Toytec lifts. some of their kits are adjustable coil overs that are made by blistien.
Camburg suspension is top notch, you might want to look into them also. they are a little expensive, but worth the money

lol the reason I chose Toyota is that they are reliable as hell, decently priced, and hold value like a mofo, and they look like monsters when you lift em.

I might go with the toytec boss kit, but the ultimate fox lift looks sick too (for $3300 )

I have a basic toytec/bilstein kit on my 4runner and spc adjustable upper control arms to keep caster in spec. It rides better than stock. I installed it myself, but i was looking into swat customs in fremont, they have good reviews. 3" is not that much, but its the most you can do without a body lift.

I had a set of lowering springs installed on my fox by swat customs. there a nice smaller shop to deal with

Just keep in my op, that most reputable shops only install parts they sale, look into a leveling kit for your truck, being its a 2wd you dont wheel it, its cheap to level and you may be able to stuff 33s and get the look you like
Posted by fredfifty (Member # 10320) on
:
Swat customs in fremont said this kit https://bilsteinlifts.com/shop/05-and-up-tacoma/toytec-boss-suspension-system-2005-2013-toyota-tacoma/#!prettyPhoto can be installed for 470 incl alignment. Ive read up on leveling kits and i dont think thats what i want. Im leaning towards the boss kit with the boss hd springs and uca's, which will probably ramp the install price up a bit more. Still deciding...

Look into the ICON stage 1 kit. I promise you'll be extremely happy with it. The Toytec kit is nice, but ICON is a better choice.

Maybe, those trucks went all over the place. The black and gold one is in Russia, the black and blue one is in one of the Dakotas as a welding truck and the grey one is in Arizona.
Oh and my truck won't see mud but my Jeep will

Here's my Bronco the day I bought it. All stock on 31's way behind on maintenance.
And here she is now. 6" rough country lift with dual steering stabilizers, 35" mud tires, all new fluids, full tune up, tie rod flip, sway bar flip, push bumper, & more!
I did the lift kit install myself, definitely not something for the average mechanic. I'm from Sacramento so I don't know of any shops down there unfortunately. I love my rough country kit, it wasn't insanely expensive and if good quality with lifetime warranty on everything.

nice man! unfortunately my tacoma probably wont see dirt lol its what the 4 wheel drive community deem, mall crawlers! haha
and its not cheap either, almost 7k for lift , wheels/tires, install...which is pretty pricey in my opinion.
Posted by FivePTSlow (Member # 7682) on
:
Yeah that's a bit much. My lift kit was about $1,000, picked up the tires/wheels for $650 used with tons of life left, push bumper $50 from pick n pull and about $200 for the full tune up and change all fluids. Spent about $300 putting an entirely new A/C system in the Brocno all new hoses, pump etc, and it was $500 for the bronco itself, so I probably have about $3,000 total investment. We take the mighty Bronco everywhere!

Please don't come into my post and muck it up by expressing your opinion. I didn't ask for it and you already know that most sellers will feel their truck is worth more. I'm simy asking because I actually like the truck and not trying to start shit. I don't believe your intentions are helpful whatsoever. If you would like we can take care of his thru pm's.
Thank you.

its been to a few different shops with its stages of lift and mods. It's been to SEMA 3x, twice as a booth truck. The value of the truck if we were going to sell it for what it's worth we'd be asking 60k or best offer. But reality we would never get it. It's still considered a project truck with a few things left to finish. I'll get more into that if I have a serious buyer but here is the rough draft for the listing.

I got this one last month full loaded from an old man that parked it in his garage. Super clean for the year. I picked it up for 18 with 160k for miles. Fully loaded I'm about 8-9k for weight, pulled it up Donner summit at 65 with no problem. The damn transmission in these truck are bad ass!! Shit pulled my trailer thru some good mud (fun muddin with a trailer behind u, little scary on the side of a mountain) plenty of power

My F350 doesn't see mud and rarely sees dirt roads. I MIGHT level it out just for looks but my 84 CJ7 sees it all...

Are the tires loud driving down the freeway/streets?
Truck looks sweet

Nope, no irritating howling. I was surprised.

Large mud tires will get louder as they wear out. The howling is the noise of the air being trapped under the tread as the tire is rolling.

Nice to know thanks for the info
I'll be buying some 35/12.5/17 tires real soon
Was thinking of going with the toyo all terrain II but the mud terrain looks much better and I'm sure it gives it the more beefier look, Kinda stuck now lol
