So we got my son an X box 1 for Christmas, with a few games. Is it normal for this stupid console to take hours to download the hard disk into the console? It is crazy slow!! I could understand it if we were doing an app store purchase or something, but this is crazy. Does the download time from an actual disk have anything to do with internet speed? I have it hooked up using the wifi, but I could hard wire it if needed.

Ya it takes quite a bit of time, i dont think internet connection matters either

It takes a while to copy the game, but you can play the game while it's downloading.

Xbox live is back up. PSN network is still down.

Your Internet speed does matter. If you have slow Internet connection the download/updates will take longer then someone who has faster Internet (MBPS).

If you are downloading the hard disk to your xbox1 make sure your not connected to the Internet it loads waaaaaaay faster. One of my buddys told me this and it works.

we had excellent internet speed at my bros house and the xbox just really take a long time to download the game onto the system. but like others said you can play it while downloading.

ps4 takes long too just not as long as xbox1

Plugged mine in a couple days ago and I was playing advanced warfare within 45 minutes after updates, adding my live account, installing game and waiting for it to install updates to play multiplayer on live.

Did that with WiFi connection.
