Wtf is wrong with society today. Back when I was a kid my mom wanted me out of the house until it was dinner time. They put this mom in jail for letting the kid do the same thing.

7 is a bit young to be out and about like that IMO
While I agree kids need to be out enjoying life, too many things can go wrong with a 7 yr old without a parent around
maybe I'm overprotective

+1 There's too many weirdos out there nowadays. Next thing you know your kid is locked in someones basement for 20 years.

Its because the kid is way too young, I have twin 6 year old and when we are out, I don't let them out of my sight

I try to get my wife to let the leash out a little farther each week with my kids but a half mile is a bit far for a 7 yr old in my opinion.

I agree 7 is young, but was it necessary to arrest the mom?

She should have been given a warning for first time then if she was dumb enough to let it happen again then jail time would be reasonable imo

I guess my mom an dad raised savages my brother an I were always at the park when I was that age then again that's was in the 1970's.an we never worried about any weirdo's back then.

That makes sense, but they probabaly wanted to make an example of her especially with all of the sick POS's stalking kids at parks etc.

a kiddie park is a sex offenders playground, never let them go solo at, or around that age.

I think seven its a bit to young to let them play on their own at a park that far from home. It only takes seconds from someone to take your kid or do something sexual. When I was a kid I use to up and about everywhere but sucks that we are not in those days anymore.

I know times have changed but do you really want to raise kids to be afraid of there own shadow.we as a nation are dumbing down are kids an not teaching them skills that can help them in the long run.
