Not a Ford but thinking of doing a wide body on my Z. Not a cheap mod by any means, is it worth it or not in your guys opinion? Be honest. Thanks fellas.

Id say no unless you plan to keep it a while. Not a lot of people like that and its a hard resale
Posted by Nastysvt (Member # 6431) on
:
I don't want the price to play a part in the decision cause if I say how much everyone will tell me I can buy another car lol... but the whole process with parts and paint is around $18k

leave ur car as is..its already bad ass without all that fancy body crap. if u have an extra 8k burning a hole in your pocket i would add the kit if you like it a lot and u could care less on resale down the line.

I've thought about that but That's just for the kit though. I'd have to still get it installed and tuned. And it would still be on the stock bottom end so I'd be looking at gains of maybe 50-60hp max before I start getting into that danger zone. I'd rather build the motor first
Posted by stangin' (Member # 514) on

did you factor in the cost of new wheels too? i'm assuming that the widebody kit will call for something more aggressive offset/backspacing wise.
personally, i would say don't do it unless you had to have it and the kit fits like OEM. it does look sick, but sometimes too much is just too much.

I already have 3 piece wheels. I would just need to buy the lip at $350 a piece. That's factored into the price already

Just speaking from personal experience. . I've raced 4 different gt500s and have videos from 3 racing from digs to rolls.. bolt ons to whippled and never once did any of them pull on me. They are still a bad ass car but not for me

Thanks for the input, seriously considering it. wouldn't have to run spacers because I have 3 piece wheels. I would only have to buy deeper lips for it to make it sit flush. I don't plan on selling the car and not to sound baller but not really worried about the price its gonna cost. My biggest concern is if it's gonna look good well enough to set it apart from the rest of what's out there. Thanks again guys for all the input

This is where it starts, not happy with bolt ons, time to go extreeme. Vette costume Zee oh costume seven.
Put the wads of cash down and jump in your ride and roll it. Wait til it crashes then go extreme then. By then you'll be over it and have money for the next one .

Paint the splash guards to match the car. The wheel opening looks too long in the rear. I think it looks funny, it's your car but I think with the splash guards painted it would look 100x better

gotta shoot some 3/4 rear end shots to do your car some justice.
im not a fan of customizing a Z but if i were to ever do one, this is exactly it.
what this upgrade run you(excluding wheels) if u dont mind me asking. $10k-15?

let me guess, you have one of those one dimensional cars that only go straight and wanna trailer it somewhere because it can't be driven on the streets and race 1/8 mile because no where in California can we go somewhere to race 1/4 mile lol I have a street car! Looks badass. The cars already have a bit of a 'widebody' look from the factory. Just looks like an extension of what GM started.
My personal opinion would be to body color all the carbon. I think that clear coated carbon fiber is getting a little out of date.

I only posted on here to get some feedback on your guys thoughts being that is a car forum and I know 90% of you on here are up front and honest. I did build the car for me but I thought I'd share the build with you guys. Some of you enjoyed it, some of you didn't. So what you are saying. Is No.
I like everything but how the front of the rear wheel well looks. I'd like to see the the rocker molding meet the flare. Or the flare to come all the way down to the rocker.

Sure we can do 1/4 mile for 20k heads up I pick the street an no prep.an don't worry it just a small block that can drive anywhere. An if don't have the 20k I can give you a title loan on your corvette as long as it's paid off.
