because he never registerd it dmv has no way to go after him an is just plain lazy to do teh paper work cause as of now your a easy victom, go to dmv and show them teh copy of your release of liability, pr show that copy to who ever is sending the bills. id go to dmv first everything will follow right after.

He can't report it stolen when the other guy has the pink slip that he signed over to him. I am assuming though that you signed it over to him.

well, you released ownership when you signed on line 1 of the title (assuming you did). and you filed a notice of transfer and release of liability, so you should be clear if this thing goes viral in the collections dept.
**maybe the cafords detectives can find the new owner for ya **

That happened to me, and I just sent a copy of the release of liability to them, and never heard another word. Good luck.

You still have to be careful because the un paid tickets could be sent to collection and it under your name on the tickets

I signed it over to him and i had my dad turn in the release of liability part to DMV when he registered my truck for me. I know I'm going to keep getting the collections because I have two letters already sent to me. I feel like just driving to his house in San Pablo to handle it but it's drive

next time, do the release of liability on line...way better imo and you get a copy sent to your email.

yup. your actually suppose to have a copy with new owner info and yours.

Well I took a picture of his ID but what should u do? Report him to DMV saying he bought my car? I really don't want to try and fuck the guy over but I'm not trying to Pay for his stupid mistakes especially since it's not my car anymore. If worse comes to worse do u you guys think I should file for a lost title and pick the car up? But now at that point I would feel guilty for technically stealing something that's not mine since for one I don't have keys and two he paid me 3000 for the car. I guess I'll start by going to DMV and see what happens. I don't want to deal with this

I will start making copies next time around. Thanks for all the input guys I appreciate it

People who buy 5.0's never have drivers licenses and shit, they always gonna keep pushing until the reg goes out then they register the cars in they mama's names or their brother's with legitimate drivers license so when they get pulled over and their shit is on a 30 day hold they can come pickup the car faster later on. Knowing this whenever I sell a fitty, you wanna keep the release of liability form and actually turn that shit in. Also with technology I take a picture with my cellphone just in case my dog eats the paperwork or some assclown like this gets you in trouble. The good news is the tickets follow the car but if the car gets towed and the towyard leins your shit up, sometimes that gets reported on your credit then you gotta fuck some people up. Plus you want to make sure if they do go out and rob banks and run people over that you still being the legal owner isnt at risk.

It seems as If I did everything right though besides not making a copy. I have his DL on my phone and my dad gave the liability form to the clerk but I doubt he will rob a bank lol. Was kind of a weird guy though. Paisa with dreads and heeeeellla piercings. And you are 98 percent right on what you said 135.0 haha

Pictures of license, have them fill out the back of the title in front of you, otherwise no deal.
