It looks good. The purist for an AC Cobra would want a 427 under the hood but if you are good with a 302, I think it is a decent deal for 30k. I would want the original bucket driver's seat as well. You might be able to talk him down a few K.

seems like a lot considering if you find a clean good running donor car for about $2500.00 you could build one for about $15k that would just need paint at that point.

The kit retails for around 20,000 these days, can't get it done for under 20,000 anymore. This one is probably a Mark 2 or 3 which were under 12,000.

Giant pile of crap.
I had one sold it. It turned into a big disappointment.
It was a non doner build with cobra brakes coil overs supercharger and tremec 3550 efi. So it had good shit but it felt flimsy and never really fun to drive.

if he built it 15 years ago its a mk1. and may not have a SB100. you definitely couldn't build it for $30000....

I think with another 10k it would have gotten close to my expectations but it would take changing it to hydro boost assisted steering better rear suspension and sway bars.
From my comparison these are built better than the originals and the mere though of going kver 100 mph in one scares me.
My c2 out handles out stops and feels like a real car not like a golf kart.
Good too look at not so much of an enjoyment to drive.
This was mine.

Sal, its odd how you say they "feel like golf carts" when there are quite a bit of guys racing these on road courses. Is it the type of kit used that makes one better from the other?

Your race track prepped ones are running a much more suffisticated suspension.
Even if it is a factory five as mine was.
If i were in the market to pick a kit, it would be the factory five one. Lots of options for then available.
To make them good enough they need a lot of work and even then we all know a race car isnt a "driver". Well at least for me it wasnt.
I had problems with a rock hard pedal on manual brakes. Cobra master cylinder and big 13" disc and 11" rear cobras.
The steering was also manual pain to drive around town with the wide tires.
It was plagued with hideous amounts of wheel hop. Even after fn with control arms. Was finally thinking of going 3-link.
The side exhaust was loud as fuck next to your ear and not really performance tuned. Major torque loss.

To some degree I agree with fostang. They are loud, too hot when its over 85, too cold when its under 60. The suspension leaves a lot to be desired, but the car has its place. They are quick as hell with a meager amount of horsepower. Its a driving experience equivocal with a older muscle car. I've taken it to Knott's and besides the periods of snow it was fun as hell, but they drive wears you out. The girlfriend didn't agree. though
