What efi? And when did you start boosting?

Selling the carb box?

Posted by Secnd2nun64 (Member # 1431) on :

I got the MSD atomic and an aeromotive fuel setup. I've had the blower since 2007.

was wondering if you where going to post something about it. was going to see if you made progress with it?

Posted by Secnd2nun64 (Member # 1431) on :

Well, I'm keeping the carb box on. Progress has been slow, just working on it during weekends. So far I got the new gas tank in which houses the electric pump. I also added a 1/2 inch fuel line to feed the unit and then I'll use the stock 3/8 as my return once I make up the return lines to connect it to the tank.

Looks good. But why not the fox efi setup?

Posted by Secnd2nun64 (Member # 1431) on :

Thanks, I didn't go with a fox efi because of hood clearance and thought it looked too modern for my car. This system will be pretty stealth once complete. I also like the self learn feature on the fuel tables.

I also just put that 4 core aluminum radiator in to help keep things cool this summer. Anyone interested in a slightly used 3 core brass/copper radiator? Let me know

The MSD unit works with boost? Does it have to be in a sealed box to work correctly? Really curious to know how this works out after a few drives. [patriot]

keep me posted on this too.. I wanted to go this route... how much was the setup?

Posted by Secnd2nun64 (Member # 1431) on :

Ya they updated the software in September to accept boost. Blow thru and draw thru. It doesn't need to be in a box, I just like the look of the box. It would be a much easier setup with a carb hat. My initial plan was to run a Vic jr intake with a carb hat but it was one inch too high, couldn't close the hood.

Not to be a nay sayer but I dont think its gonna make that much of a difference over a properly tuned carburator the way you are setting up.

I prefer sequential fuel injection or at the very least a multi point set up.

To be honest I would have probably used the fox electronics for cost and overall benifit over say xfi since this isnt an all out race machine that needs individual injector control.

Then welded on injectors bosses to the intake. Using the intake piping Welded a maf mount then calibrated it using the tuning software.

This would have produced a much smother running engine and actual benifited from a bit better gas mileage.

As you can see I dislike TBI set ups.

Are you at least running the dual shnc distributor to control timing?

im curious to see where you plumb the coolant temp sensor in at. Im pondering having a second bung welded into my intake on my new motor in order to have the option later if I choose so.

^ He said bung.....

so any update?

Posted by Secnd2nun64 (Member # 1431) on :

Well... I had a bad hose end. I was checking for fuel leaks and found that the line in the trunk was leaking at swivel part of the connector. New one gets delivered tomorrow so I'm at a standstill for now.

As a FYI. Summit has the unit on sale right now.

yeah I saw that, I might just go this route too. I'm waiting to sell the falcon first.

Hey thats the same fual tank i am installing into my Fastback in the next couple of weeks.
I hit a bump driving her home a couple weeks ago and when i got home the stock gas tank was leaking out of the bottom where the sending unit goes in. Stupid design so i am upgrading the tank and i was going to go with a bigger pump already so i sold the bigger pump and got this tank/pump combo. Gonna be interesting, i am moving the regulator and running a return line.

We'll I got it running today and took the wife out for dinner in it. So far so good, the idle is really smooth and the throttle response is great. The in tank pump is really quiet too. I'm going to setup the electronic timing control on it tomorrow. Hoping to get in dialed in by next Friday for the cruise to knotts.

Did you look at tanks inc Dana? Same basics design as this but about 2 hun cheaper.

Just order it with a carb pump.

Here's the unit all wired up.

no i didn't. i already bought the tank/pump. Aeromotive is a good company so i am feeling good about the purchase. Only thing i am a little worried about is mounting the new regulator and running the fuel lines, gonna "try" and make it NHRA legal.

Posted by Fostang (Member # 3752) on :

Oh gotcha yea aeromotive is good stuff just not totally sold on their pumps. The constant a1000 failings left a bitter taste.

But when you are ballin on CFD money an extra 2 bills aint shit lol.

Im not sure on NHRA legal bs I just run steel lines with compression fittings and AN adapters. Seems to work :-D but what the hell do I know.

LOL whats CFD stand for?
I want the best in my Fastback.
