Why is it recommended to change out your spindle lock nut kit, dust cap, etc...every time you take the front brake rotor off?

I cant re-use the existing one? Its not that its expensive, just wondering why.

I would assume due to the stress on the materials?

I've never replaced them nor had a problem doing so. Repack the hell outta your bearings simcha it down roll resistance should be smooth but not excessive

I ACTUALLY PREFER THE FOUR LUG, BECAUSE THATS WHAT OUR CARS CAME WITH. ITS A "NOSTALGIA" THING. IT JUST FEELS RIGHT.

NOTHING WRONG WITH 5 LUG THOUGH, IT WORKS GREAT AND IS ARGUABLY BETTER.

I installed new 86svo 5lug rotors direct replacement in my 89 also replaced the inner and outer bearings last weekend.
No I did not change out the pin, cap, and lock nut. Yea I purchased it but ended up not needing to replace it due to the dust cap and lock nut just needed cleaning, and the pin was still stiff and not flimsy.

I believe in doing the job right the first time but no need to throw away money.

I just did my rotors on my Fox and reused everything that was re-usable. I'm glad I changed them the spindle nut was so loose it came off by hand
