I'm trying to decide between getting a Borla Stingers w/ Bassani X pipe or SLP Loudmouth 1 w/ Bassani X pipe setup for my 2004 Mach 1. I like how loud the SLP Loudmouth exhaust is but there's a part of me that thinks it sounds a little obnoxious. The Borla Stingers sound clean to me but the dude at my exhaust shop told me he just put Borla Stingers on a 2007 GT500 and said that they were really quiet and couldn't even tell the exhaust was upgraded. What do you guys think?

Catted or off road?
I like magna packs, stingers, and SLP with a off road system
And SLP, magna packs, and stinger with a catted system. In that order. That being said I run Magna packs with MRToffroad h-pipe on my 04 mach.

I was thinking off road Bassani X pipe. Off road X pipe will make it where you don't pass smog and catted X pipe will pass?

I had slp lm1 with bassani I liked it for a couple months then it started hurting my head an the cops knew me. My friend just did a slp lm1 cat back with slp mid pipe an that actually sounds pretty good. If you want to go o/r bassani I'd say borlas

Slp's sound like shit IMO. Makes the car annoying.

^ I agree.. I don't drive my car everyday, if I did O/R midpipe and magna packs or slps would slowly start to wear on me.

I hate obnoxiously loud exhaust. O/R X and SLP LM 1 is one of the most obnoxious, annoying, ugly sounds ever. SLP LM 1 are good on a stock midpipe, Sounds very good.

I had slp 1 o/r x pipe on my cobra until I got the chp ticket just too loud asking for unwanted attention then again some people like it that way!

Nope, you'd fail either way, unless you install the x-pipe behind the stock cats.
In CA, afaik only some of the Magnaflow exhaust are CARB legal (not all their catted pipes are though).

I have Bassani x-pipe with cats and Borla cat back on my Mach. It passed smog only because the smog tech didn't check my exhaust I had him concentrated on my K&N carb #. I hear only the stock style 4 cat system is legal. I just blew out my passenger side cat, which I'm learning is somewhat common with these ceramic cats. I think I may go cat-less and pick up a stock mid-pipe for smog. I like this exhaust setup, but after blowing the cat it is a little louder. I think I might like it without cats?

I had O/R X pipe with LM1 on my 2002 and it sounded like ASS JUICE. I left the O/R pipe on and put on a Steeda Cat back (i believe they are borla) and I love it. Way better

I have the magnaflow cat backs plus a bassani catted x-pipe with the straight offroad pipes that you can swap out. It was obnoxiously loud without the cats. Had it on my mach for maybe 8000 miles before I sold it. I really liked how it sounded with the high flow cats. I still have the setup in very good condition. Send me a pm if you're interested.

I hear if you know people that live in no smog zones and register your car at their address then you never have to get a smog check...true or false?
