why is it when u give a for sale add clearly saying < call for more info > with a number clearly posted, folks still post questions? is it they dont or cant read? are they just window shopping? they are so fast they dont catch the number? retards without parent super vision?
whats a better way u guys can get folks to actually read the add, an follow simple instructions?

Story of my life. I just sold a beater car that sat for a year for $400 bucks. The thing ran and drove and was a decent beater car. I wrote the most straight to the point ad i can possibly write and i still got asked 500 questions when it was all listed in the ad. A couple people even asked it if drove, It said DRIVABLE probably 3-4 words into the ad.

People are just stupid or cant understand english or maybe both.

I drive a vehicle driving around town with a big black bumper sticker that reads "I'm tired of stupid people"

It's not you, people just can't read or write; it's becoming a thing of the past. No child left behind worked out really well, now they all got left behind lol.

I have exactly the same problem so I rarely sell things now I have a garage full of shit. I can't take dealing with those kind of people so I only respond to well written emails and call back people who hold a somewhat intelligent conversation.

Very frustrating indeed!

I'll take some of those things [Big Grin]

It's about to the point where your add needs to be worded like this example:

Title ( Oil Pan For Sale )

Description.

( I have used oil pan. It fits 289 & 302. It fits old cars, not a rear sump 5.0 )
 -
^ Just oil pan is for sale Part # ____________

Don't forget to put a price cause that will be the first god damn thing that's going to be asked.

I've placed ads to sell parts that end like this...."$XXX.XX PLUS shipping". Get a question back...."does that price include shipping?" Ignorance in rampant in this country these days.

Exactly , ive been as detailed with my posts as i can. For example

Part: Red Foxbody Vert/Coupe Cobra Spoiler
Condition: 9/10
Cosmetic Condition: Little circular scratches
Fits: 79-93 Mustang Coupe or Convertible
All hardware included
Asking :100 Firm

Call/Text 000-000-0000

*Only wing is for sale*
 -

I get all kinds of questions like:

What color is it?
Will it fit my 89 vert?
Is it scratched?
Would you take 20?
Is it for a mustang?
How much for the car?
Does it come with everything?

Its either people cant read or they're just stupid

It's no wonder that there are so many warning labels on merchandise these days. Like the infamous one on baby carriages that says "DO NOT FOLD CARRIAGE WITH BABY INSIDE"

I really hate selling parts. It's become such a hassle. [Mad]

I deal with it daily and it sucks not like before, I believe buyers these days act stupid just so the seller would get tired of dealing with them and sell it to them cheaper.

What i like to do is just use my email for CL stuff. I can weed through emails and contact the ones that sound legit and interested. Since i started doing this, I've had WAY better success in selling things.

I had 1 couple out of 10 successful sales that came out for a table i was selling, They said "OHHH, I expected it to be bigger, Thanks anyway" Then started walking off. I just snapped and said " I suggest you guys get some english lessons because the dimensions are listed right in front of your face on the ad".

I don't sell to people who use slang or incorrect spelling.

I think this happens for two reasons.

1. People are really getting dumber

2. We are a texting society. I read an article that found people are now texting more than actually talking on the phone.

Some people will ask me a hundred questions on a $50 mustang part and then not even buy it.

Guy in Colorado wanted to buy my 31 spline spool. Paypal's me the money after numerous discussions. Get ready to send it and he emails me that he needs a 35 spline spool not a 31. Fine. Refund his money. Wanted to ask him what kind of beast he's building that he needs a 35 spline spool when I have been going 9.0's with the 31. Guys a joke, no need to ask any questions.

This and if they ask stupid questions I don't respond. Works for me I've had good luck with people so far.

Same with me. When I had my car up for sale, I was VERY picky. Not judging anyone, just don't want to deal with it.
