Presidential alerts are designed for nationwide emergencies like nuclear war. None has ever been issued in the 17-year history of the program, nor was any issued through its predecessor the Emergency Broadcast System. So hopefully we ain't got to worry about theses alerts. [patriot]

If you really want to disable this function , depending if your a iphone/android user, you got to root /jailbreak your phone. Not worth the hassle IMO.

My phone was going off on my way back from the Giants game. My phone was connected thru bluetooth to my deck and it stopped my music and started ringing loud and weird(sounded nothing like an amber alert).

My old ass work flip phone went off and had a different sound, I couldn't tell what the hell it was. My iPhone didn't get the alert.

Mine has been going off all morning... you can change your emergency alerts under message settings. But the one you can't change is presidential alerts..... go figure. 'Murrica...

if you have a iphone 4/5 you can turn off/on the AMBER alert and EMERGENCY alert in settings. scroll to the bottom
