So i spent 2 weeks in Arizona so far this fire season. We only got to go on 2 fires our entire 18 days there. One was insane. Here's some pictures from a newspaper photographer.
These pics are of a 2 acre Motorcycle junkyard fire, in a place in Arizona where there is no water, closest water source was 10 miles down the highway so we couldn't do much to stop the fire all we were ordered to do was protect the wildland and surrounding trailer park. Around 2am we finally got enough water to start going offensive on it.
There was scrapnel and all kinds of stuff getting shot out at us from explosions. Magnesium engines going up and all kinds of gas cylinder bottles.

That bicycle/motorcycle junk yard has been there as long as I can remember. I grew up in strawberry Az, and went to high school in payson...
A couple of friends of mine from HS are hotshots.

Its gone now. There is no fire district in RYE and no water sources so we couldn't do anything to stop the place from burning down. We'd get like 2000 gallons of water and burn through that in 2 minutes and then have to wait 10 minutes to get water again. That amount of water wasn't doing anything
