If your going to slow the car down with a ls-jaun, you might as well have the rest of the pos car to go with it.

Seriously I thought about this swap before but it seemed like too much money for the swap for the results I have seen, motors didn't seem to last long before they needed a rebuild.

Ok, let's hear this how quick are these lsx swaps, how long do they last, and how much? I already seen a stock Z06 with 80K miles break the LS7 into little pieces, I still have the oil mess on my trailer when I towed the Z06 home. I seen a NA stock block SBF 347s running low 11s and high 10s, my old stock block SBF 310 motor with a 200 shot is running 9.5xs, but what's cheaper time you do the conversion into a Foxbody and what's the results?

very vague question, but the bare blocks arnt the weak link, usually the pistons or rods go first. stock ls1 swap in a fox should get you to high 11's, and 27mpg freeway

With a 6 speed. You can do the same if you put a 6 speed in a sbf fox. Hell my na carb'd 623hp motor got 23mpg with a 5 speed and 373's.. No efi no double over drive. Hell same motor on a 3200lbs car with only 4:10s went 10.48 @ 131 with 91 pump gas and a damn near stock suspension car. You ls1 nut swingers keep bragging about how great they are. But you aren't doing anything I haven't Done 10+ years ago with all Ford stuff.

your right, nothing you cant do w/ a ford motor. I ended up doing it because I had most of the parts, and at that time it would have cost more to build my 351w, and when I did it (5+ years ago) it wasn't very common. but I was very pleased and surprised w/ the power, handling and reliability. drove to reno, Tahoe, la and sandiego countless times with pretty much no maintenance. and w/ 650/650rwhp I was getting about 23mpg also

I don't care about gas mileage, I want to hear about the cost of the conversion into a Foxbody and the track times at Sacramento so were can compare locally, I haven't seen a Foxbody with a LS1 run high 10s without a power adder at Sacramento, I have seen Drew with his heavy 94GT run high 10s with a 347 without a power adder, I have seen 2000blackgt and 86-50 run low 11s with a 347 without a power adders. Here is the guy who went 9.5xs with a SBF 310 and a 200 shot with a Maximum Motorsport Torque Arm. He bought a complete 310 motor without a carb, a Hughes C4 and Longtubes from me for $4K, all he did was buy a carb and a NOS kit and went 9s.

cost can be all over the place...if you can get a swap for a fair price and go carb it can be done pretty cheap. start talking built motor, trans and fuel injection and you wont want to know what you have in it

It'll never be cheaper than your red coupe was.

Not only do you have to buy all the lsx stuff you still have to buy a k-member, xmember, wiring harness N who knows what else. Just to what go slower than a stock bottom end H/C/I SBF. Am I the only one that thinks its pointless? Yes I know you CAN make them fast but all that money you spend just in a stock LS1 conversion I'm shure you can buy a dart block then the money you were gonna use to build the LS1 you can use for the dart N have a bullet proof BEAST murdering LS7's or whatever they go up to.

this x100000
if your doing it because you think its a cheap swap, or you will be able to go faster for less, that's not the case

I understand the ls swap if you have everything free or laying around. No brainer there. The reason why you used to see so many old school cars with 350/350 Chevys. They are/were dirt cheap, and you could get parts any/every where. Any motor can be fast & reliable or get good mpg. It only cost money. I just never understand people that swear it's cheaper and you will go faster with a ls-jaun based fox. It's just not true.
@ Slowback67. A nice 67 with a boosted 5.8l would be so fucking boss!

If my LS stock shortblock stock heads cam only don't go 10's on motor its for sale...I just think its all on how you see it and how much you pay for a motor...I got mine for 2 gz with harness and computer...and everthing else is somthing you would buy to build your car ford or Chevy powers...trans stall headers intake ect..ect..

You really don't need a k member...but even if you do you guys buy them for your Ford motors also...the cost to put HCI on a SBF is probably the same price as a LS motor....and if you were building a car you would spend the money on a trans exhaust ect..ect..just like we need for the swap..

Lol....real shit LS motors make power...and 80's and 90's mustangs have a platform you cant pass up....they flat out work and have a nice look....so why not go fast in a nice looking light car...not sayin you can't go fast with a Ford motor but the LS is a hell of a motor...people swap motors in anything to go fast no matter make or model..
