I went to the movies today, parked away from everybody at the very back of the parking lot, I did it more for the shade spot, but I also thought it would be a good idea to avoid any door dings.
And sure enough, I come out, to a massive parking lot with someone parked right next to me and a fresh door ding on my rear 1/4 panel.
It's clearly obvious that it was the guy that was parked next to me, to wear his door would swing and the location of the ding.
I was going to wait and confront the guy, but had to get going. I talked to a security guard for the area and he said there wasn't anything I could do.

I did however take down his plate, and noticed a for sale sign in the back seat of his car with a number on it.
So I called the number and told him the situation, which he pretty much admitted fault on accident but then continued to deny it was him. I know it was him, I told him to give me like $50 and we could call it good.
He got very defensive and started trying to argue.
Anything I can do to get this guy to pay for some PDR? I doubt it, but I thought this would be an appropriate place to ask.
Thanks

Call your insurance and tell them it was a hit and run once they approve your claim "other guys insurance" make it a bit bigger to make it worth your while. Happened to me a customer took down the other girls license plate I called my insurance she was tracked down Agreed on the hit n bam 1246 for a penny size paint chip never fixed it wasn't even noticeable.

I just read my post and it seemed a little confusing.
I called him and caught him in a lie about it. Then once I did that he denied it was him.
I'm not real sure he's going to come clean if the insurance company calls him. He'll probably deny it like he did with me on the phone.
I guess I'll see how it plays off, I anticipate forking out some $$$ on my end though. [Mad]

this sucks [Frown] that's why I park all the way to the end of the parking lot. and if possible get the corner space and park as close as possible to the edge of the curb, that way if some does decide to park next to me their will be more space when they open the door.

How much would you think it's going to cost to repair the ding?
If your insurances covers the repair , would they increase your monthly premium?

That's why I park like a complete asshole most of the times. I'd rather be a prick than come back and see my shit hit. [Embarrassed]
