A friend of mine has an automatic 1992 lx hatchback 5.0, motor is completely stock and very solid, silver ponies, the paint however is a bit rough and he plans on painting it before selling it... would it be hard to get $4000 for it after it's painted? would it take time to sell do to it being automatic?

Well if I was in the market for another fox N I saw it was automatic definitely a deal breaker with me.

I think its just that ugly shift handle [Razz] just throw a B&M handle in there, and it will be more appealing imo, especially to these youngsters with heavy ass feet lol

How hard is it? Well it's harder than getting a basketball shot past Dikembe Mutombo [patriot]

Depends on the buyer. If the buyer likes it and wants an auto then no problems but thats hard to come by now a days. I wouldn't paint it though maybe have it color sand that way he doesnt end up lossing cash.

One thing I stay away from is automatic Foxbodies, they are notorious for being superslow, have consistent breakage and cost a shitload to repair. Ive owned several, in fact my first fox was an auto. But after seeing how they destroy themselves, I only do 5speeds. For me, unless the fox is superclean or has some kind of potential then I usually pass if it auto.

I don't think you should have a problem selling a foxbody wit an aod at all [patriot]

There's lots of people who like automatic transmissions
There's lots of people who like manual transmissions

I like them both. Good luck to your friend wit the sale.

Of course the 5-speed will be more sought after and will command more money, but I've sold clean AOD foxes in the past without much fuss.

And believe me, there are plenty of guys out there that are specifically looking for an auto.
