I'm trying to buy a ex chp but on the pink slip and registration it doesn't say prior police. The owner told me that it doesn't always say it. Is that true? He sent me to the website specialservicemustang.net. And it says it is. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Our you can use carfax , That's how I did my car

I'm no chp/ssp expert by far but there should be buck tags on the radiator support, a "calibrated" guage cluster, and the pink should have some verification if not carfax like said before

Saw another member post this site. It's free. Throw the vin in and see if it mentions CHP usage. It's got spots for all that info on this site. Don't take it for solid fact it doesn't recognize the car as an ex CHP though. It didn't see my salvage title.

Mine SSP's always said "Prior Police" on the title and even on the registration. But there are SSP's that will NOT say "Prior Police" on the pink, mainly government SSP's that werent used for police duty but rather like county vehicles and such. They were used in state, local and fed government departments, both marked and unmarked examples. if it was a prior police duty/LE car than it will say so on the title.

Also not all SSP's will have the 160 speedo, my 87 SSP CHP still had the 85 speedo in it.

I did
http://vsvin.info/vin/1fabp40e3jf221474.html#section-vehicle-glossary
And it says nothing about CHP, I'm going to go check it out and see if it has those DSO tags. Eventhough I hear people take them off to preserve them and end up losing them.

I used to own a car dealership....They will always say prior police, no exceptions. That and or the title will say P71 somewhere in the vin

Bucktag location for 83-88's
Bucktag location for 88-93's
An if its a real CHP it should have the holes in the passenger side lower frnt bumper. like this;
holes are for the siren and pa speaker

I had an ex chp, and it had prior police on the title.
Also random holes everywhere,
It had 220k on it and ran hard.

I saw it and it didn't have the DSO tags. It did have holes where the spot lights used to go. I don't think I'm going to buy it since I don't know if its 100 % a prior police.

ihave an ssp it does not say prior police on regestration or pink slip but i do have all the grounds tags nd theirs tags by the drive shaft.

ground straps everywhere, 140 or 160 mph gauges that say certified calibration, on chps the driver side door should have a unit number that is painted over, oil filters are shorter due to oil cooler, holes in the bumper, and the trunk release is not in the glove box. if it is a real chp they have no power locks or windows nor cruise control
