what are the Pros and cons of a 89 5.0 gt 5 speed? Feul injected?

89 have forged pistons, tilt steering, but have ugly headrests, can't get them with black interior and have smaller fender wheel wells compared to a 91-93

Good realiable cars. Decent mpg for a v8. Easy and cheap to maintain. Cheap to mod. Only bad thing u could beat the crap out of them and the torque boxes go bad. But again easy fix

Also the T-5 have a little less torque rating than a 90-93

Torque boxes ain't easy or cheap. I've torn the upper passenger straight off my '86 nearly lost my rearend while driving. It cost me $375+tax+shipping for the replacement torque boxes(can't reinforce torn out ones). Then another $300 in labor to get it put in which was a player price I paid to get it done took nearly 2 weeks to get all this shipped/installed.

The block is good until 450hp but I pushed them to 650hp and got them to last a little while

You should be more concerned about the stock trans vs being concerned about hp potential from a stock motor. the stock t-5 is rated at around 300ftlbs of tq. so when u add heads, cam, intake and supercharger or turbo kit to your 5.0 you are well over that 300ftlb rating for the trans. a few t-5's later and trust me ive learned my lesson. Find a good trans like the 3550, tko500 t56 etc etc an go from there if u want a solid foundation.

its sticky tires and hard shifts that kills t5s.

You can get about 500hp out of the whole drivetrain in. 5.0 except the clutch
But the axles, engine block and trans will all be at the limit but can survive with street tires
