7.3 for the win. 6.0s are only nice if they been studded and deletes, then there bulletproof.

7.3s make decent power with intake, exhaust and nice chip.

Whats the cost to have them studded and delete what?

Not sure on price for a shop to do it but I've heard of guys having to lift the cab off the frame in order to do so which sounds like a pain to do yourself and expensive to have done.

I believe they are talking about an EGR delete.

Look up bullet proof diesel. The EGR on the 6.0 clogs and blows head gaskets. I believe the kit can be installed for about 7k by a dealer, ARP studs, new egr kit with changable filter, head gaskets.

I bought a 2001 7.3 with 60k on it. Flew to Utah to get it. There are known problems withe the 7.3 too, but easy fixes. I put a new injector harness, cps, deleted the tank screens, and put the 6.0 cooler in. I personally have owned both and love my 7.3.

Also 7.3 will have leaf springs, 2005+ 6.0 has coils.

The Oil Cooler clogs not the EGR. When the Oil cooler clogs it can cause the EGR to rupture causing coolant to get into the oil and then the head gaskets blow. I have a 2005 F350 and I love it. It is the 6.0. My truck is not studded, but I have plenty of gauges monitoring the vitals of the truck so when something is starting to go wrong I can nip it in the ass. 6.0's have more power than the 7.3, but those 7.3's do not die and are amazing. I looked for a 7.3, but couldnt find the right one. I am glad I have a 6.0. Also the coil spring in the 05 and up make the ride so much better. check out powerstroke.org for amazing information on both

I work at a shop who replaces trannies in 7.3's and does the BP & stud work on the 6.0's. Knowing what I know, I picked up a 2003 Excursion with a 6.0 and I LOVE this vehicle! Towing, power and fuel mileage are all incredible!

I'd go with a 7.3L or a 5.9L Cummins

Agreed. If taken care of the 6.0 is a BEAST

When I was looking at f250's people said the 6.0 will smoke the 7.3 and I started watching YouTube videos of them racing and seemed the 6.0 usually wins

Diesels usually aren't broken in until 200k from what i've been told.

Dana I also have a 6.0 that would love to run your 7.3. Mine isn't studded (yet) but I am willing to wager a loss for the 7.3

I prefer the 7.3L over the 6.0L unless like mentioned before, you upgrade the EGR cooler or delete and has to be studded.

Here is where you can see the 6.0L replacements...
