I'm shopping for a commuter and I'm trying to get some ideas on what to get. I drive 120 miles a day. Looking for 30mpg, 4 seater, automatic, 300hp, priced 15-20k, year 2005+.

I was considering a BMW 335 coupe. Maybe a mustang. What else is out there?

30mpg, 4 seats, auto, 300hp... Sounds like you want a 2013 V6 Mustang.

lol. that's what i thought too... but i dont think i can own a v6 mustang

I could probably do a new V6. Definitely not an SN95 or new edge. Once they ditched the crappy pushrod 3.8, the V6 got a tad bit cooler. Not 5.0 cool, but better than it was.

I'm with you on the Fusion too. I checked out the 2013 at the SF auto show. -

My daily driver/commuter is a E90 335i. Best commuter ever! Lots of power, stock for stock handles better than most mustangs if not all. My Cobra is a funner car but that E90 is something else. With a $500 tune, you can get close to 400rwhp without doing any physical mods.

I can see myself going to ford with intentions to buy a v6 and driving out with a boss 302. Yes all good, but all bad at the same time. haha. The 6 cyl mustang is still nice. Fusions are nice too, i checked them at the sf auto expo last weekend. They can approach 30k real easy and dont come close to 300hp. Plus I cant see spending 30k on something I'm going to rack miles on.

Coming from someone who used to own a 335i sedan [Cool] , I'd go with a Mercedes C300 AMG, its in the same price range as the 335i with similar power/fuel economy. Just looks better imo

Are you planning on financing or cash?

07 sti, 06 gto, g8gt... Something along those lines would suit you nice. They all have great power economy price and looks and because you come from the mustang field you will love the aftermarket following. That's one thing a car needs for me to like it, if theres a considerably large aftermarket for a vehicle I wouldn't mind owning it regardless of what it is.

Sorry. Forgot the automatic part so sti off the list

That's the problem I have right now with my Porsche. Everything is special order if its even available. The motor blew on it Tuesday and there's no aftermarket to rebuild it. a new engine is crazy expensive. I plan to sell the car as a roller now. I would like to see someone turn it into a race car, Audi v8 or sti engine swap and enjoy it. They really need to change CA smog laws to allow you put whatever you want under the hood. As long as it burns clean leave us alone, right?

I'll look into the models you all suggested. I should probably go Japanese for reliability but I always get drawn to German and American muscle. [Big Grin]

you cant lose w/ a previous gen TL. believe its high 20s mpg and 280ish hp.

an 05 can be purhcased in the low teens to mid to high for the 08 and type S models.
i was also considering one of these recently for a commuter.

also look into the acura TSX which has a decently powered 4 banger and good economy. for just a bit more you can get the TL of comparable year however.

Get one of the newer V-6 camrys.280hp,30+mpg and if you get the se model they actually look ok with the 17's etc. parts are EVERYWHERE!

I got a new fiesta last year except it isnt 300hp. I am getting 39 mpg in the city and 44 on the freeway.
