It's not so much that Trump and Romney are idiots. It's more that they believe that the American people are the idiots and that they can lie through their teeth and get away with it.

Which for the most part, they can. Because for the most part, the American people are idiots. Take some time to just people watch in a busy public place like Walmart... and you're looking at people who represent a reasonably large segment of the voting public. Isn't that depressing?
