I own a 89 mustang Gt. I need to replace whole motor, transmission, and driveshaft w/ yokes...
I'm keeping it on a budget.

Option 1: buy complete motor with all front accessories from Steve aka foxbody for $500 and buy a t-5 from him for about $4-450 driveshaft for about $45 and hopefully I get a package deal [Wink]
So that's under $1000 that's fine

Option 2 buy a long block on Cafords for $500 140k good compression, 4angle valve job on stock heads, no front accessories.
$????? Rebuild my tranny " tranny doesn't grind or pop out, just had a leak from tail but was making very minor sounds like lil rocks inside" I think it might be outta budget
Driveshaft from foxbody $45

No matter what motor I get I'm switching over all my bolt ons upper lower intake, pullys, injectors, headers, also I plan on replacing the gaskets

Or do you guys have any other suggestions

used motors = bad news IMO unless of course you rebuild the thing, or know the person you are getting it from.

idk what imo means?
i agree about the used motor "you just dont know what your getting into" unless you know them.
the way i see it is steve/foxbody has been in business for years and very reputable, yet im not sure if he does compression tests etc.

the long block on cafords is also on craigslist, and stated compression was good, he sent pics but idk plus installed is a e303 cam and basicly thats the only reason why im considering but i dont think its likely ill be going that route

If you buy a used motor, do a complete rebuild on it.

Just buy a 302 block and rebuild it. Easier as you can do a quality job instead of paying 5-800 bucks to only burn oil or break a lifter etc....

Sell it as a roller.

Save the money u were gonna use to put it together.

Take all money and profits and buy something that runs and drives.

Besides the bolt on's on the motor I have 5 lug conversion,3:73 gears, lowered, advance suspension sub frame connectors, polyurethane tranny and motor mounts, love the porno red interior. And I think that's it... that's why I'm attached to this one
