Seriously. Why. Every mustang owner here knows that won't pass smog. And you're responsible for smog. It's practically impossible to shop for a mustang in this state. What the hell is wrong with people? You really need that extra 2 horsepower?. Or is it the sound placebo that makes you think you're so fucking fast without cats?

Stop it. All I want to do is buy a fucking Fox. Put the god damn cats back on and smog the sob so I can GIVE YOU MONEY.

You want to sell your car? You put the god damn pipe on, and follow the law by smogging it as required. What if the pipe you get has shit cats? What if the smog pump is fucked? What if a fuckload of other problems? "Buyer must smog" = there's something wrong and I can't smog it myself. If you're serious about selling it, do the fucking work yourself and make the damn sale. I can buy any car I want, you can only sell the one you have. Your bad for losing potential buyers for being lazy. If you're too lazy to install the midpipe and smog it, what else are you too lazy to do?

I've been playing with these cars for over 10 years. I've seen who owns them now. I'm mostly just disappointed they're being abused and beaten to shit and neglected.

I'm currently dealing on an 03 GT with IRS and the Maximum Motors Max Grip box. Maybe you're right, maybe it is time to give up on the foxes.

Hey buddy I have a fully built 331 Stroker everything smog legal that passes smog with flying colors with cats still on, no damn check engine lights or leaks reciepts for everything and full mm suspension handles like a dream well over 12k into it. Ill smog no problem legally got 8k cash and lets make it happen have maintaince records and pass smog certificates...oh yeah its a clean title 5 spd if your serious about buying a fox and stop crying about the smog bring me 80 hundred dollars bills and will take it to any smog shop of your choice and sign some paper work...lmk [patriot]

About the LT's.. I gained a sweet approx 20rw, and 3 tenths, with 4mph on the quarter. Also quieted down my car a Lil bit.. Kept smog pump. But played the bad boy role and lost cats, although i would have def gone for a nice catted short H if i was still on that setup.

As-is at a dealer is a claim of no warranty on the vehicle. In CA, there is no grace period when purchasing the car. If you pay for it and have it transferred legally, and it blows up once you hit the street, you're not covered by any state law. This doesn't exempt people from their smogging requirements.

I've had enough buckets. I'm going to be picky. However, the OP was just a general observation. Just cause someone's car is smoggable doesn't mean I'm going to buy it. But with so many people putting so much money into their car then wanting to sell it, how hard is it to spend the extra $100, as everyone is saying it costs to make it legally transferable? I guarantee these cars would move so much more quickly if they were posted with a smog cert...

The newer honeycomb style cats are hardly a restriction. Older pellet style cats sucked major balls but those are long gone.

I have yet to see 60's cars with emissions devices. Highly doubt they will ref a old muscle car. I haven't heard of anyone getting reffed with a muscle car.

I have yet to see 60's cars with emissions devices. Highly doubt they will ref a old muscle car. I haven't heard of anyone getting reffed with a muscle car.

PCV is an emission device. I do agree that it must be pretty rare a pre smog car see's the ref.

yeah... not true. It is your responsibility as a seller that the vehicle MUST be smogged within 90 days.

The ONLY way to sell it AS IS, if to have a written/printed document stating you're selling the vehicle "as is" and you need the new owner to sign that.

Otherwise, you're definitely liable. and yes they can return the car to you and yes they can get their money back.

I just recently sold a car and what I what I was told by the DMV is that it is the seller's responsibility (100%) to have the car smogged. You cannot sell the car without having the car smogged within 90 days of the sale. Even if the buyer agrees to "as is" the buyer can come back to the seller and say fix the car and get it smogged or the deal is off.

I believe the only exception is if you are selling the car to a relative.

I asked a DMV rep a few months ago and the answer I got was the bill of sale needed to state that the car will not pass smog, sold as is and is intended for parts or off road use only.

I know a few cars sold this way with no problems. But I am not sure if this legally affects the title in any way.

You just sell the car with a bill of sale saying the car is non operational. Done it that way before with no issues. That way any repairs to make it street legal are on the new owner.
