It's better in every aspect than an lightning and well it's just bad ass

http://www.autoexpertsca.com/inventory/view/5449019/2005-Dodge-Ram%20SRT-10

But it has high miles 111k plus
And salvaged title with passenger side suspension fully replaced..... Still please give me feedback on the whole truck and it's condition including history and miles. Sorry ford guys but you will love it too and I'm just seeking advice

Posted by JohnCM (Member # 1076) on :

Nope
Only because it's from a dealer that got it for 10k more than likely though

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!............i had a buddy who bought one, they are sluggs, the clutches suck and they are incredibly so very expensive, the stock exhaust is alright, dont even look at lt prices, and just header back exhaust is like 2k, i know its got the viper eng. but its a heavy ass truck, it moves but you'll want to go faster eventually , and theres limited options and all them ,......you guessed it expensive, oh and not that the lightining is winning gas mileage aWARDS but any kind of playin with the throttle and your lookin at 6-8 mpg but if your gentle that number jumps to a staggering, 11-13mpg, and salvage title truck for 15k, thats gonna bite u in the ass when u try to sell it.....and thats my.02centavos, cunjao! [patriot]

SALVAGE

15k is too much, that truck will be worth 8k by the time you sell it. Viper v10 is not easy to maintain, and you must maintain it. No warranty FFFFFFFuuuuuu ck that.

Go find yourself a 02-04 Ford Lightning at that price with a clean title and more potential and real towing. I dont believe that one is rated to tow anything, so it's basically a new age Syclone but with more truck bed.

Lightnings are rated to tow and do a real good job at it.

If I ever bought a lightning the first thing I would do is put a 6 speed froma cobra in it. I like the dodge over the l for that exact reason. And I'm not gonna buy a sort truck trying to conserve gas let's be honest

Posted by Cobra 93-4992 (Member # 4992) on :

I could swing my Gen 2 lightning even with the auto, drive them both and you'll find out which one you'd rather have. That dodge truck does get smoked by a stock Gen 2 consistently. You can get a Gen2 to 450 HP with bolt ons, pully and tune. Then if you go whipple or KB its over. Just saying,

Posted by 1sickGT (Member # 9276) on :

Lightning FTW!! Few bolt ons and pulley and you'll be in the 400s to the rear wheels [patriot]

Posted by Greasy (Member # 5258) on :

It might be better then a Gen 1 Lightning.....

Posted by 2T0NE (Member # 4216) on :

i like it ,not this one but maybe a clean title extended cab auto one,but who knows this 6speed single cab does look tite, title kills it

Posted by 2T0NE (Member # 4216) on :

lightnings ftw

Well the L gets like 17 at freeway speeds with cruise on real numbers.. And srt guys are recording mid to low 20's freeway driving.
I think will pass on it because it is salvage title but I would still pick this over the L. You have to be biased as fuck to think a L is better than this truck though. I mean let's be real.

Posted by Greasy (Member # 5258) on :

Yeah you're right, a salvaged title SRT-10 is way better truck all around then a Lightning is. I mean seriously, it's hard to compete with that salvaged title.

It's your money though, in the end Lightning's are sicker then those pig of a truck SRT-10's.

You gotta be ignorant as fuck if you havent driven both and found the lightning to be the better all around truck. I might be a ford homer but NOTHING competes with the gen 2 lightnings in regards to performance trucks. Why do you think they stopped making those trucks? Joe Gibbs edition would be a better option than the SRT10, the dodge pickup is a joke. Even the Harley 4 door trucks are a better option cause they can TOW, like a truck is supposed to.

Posted by Cobra 93-4992 (Member # 4992) on :

All my Lightnings got probably around 10 or 11 mpg, real world MPG. But most trucks unless you get one of the ecoboosts get that type of mileage anyways.

Posted by norcalfiddy (Member # 11207) on :

id get the dodge if it was clean title and a cummins.

Posted by Greasy (Member # 5258) on :

My Cummins gets 16mpg on the highway if I'm pulling or not.

Posted by Cobra 93-4992 (Member # 4992) on :

Cummins is a good truck

Posted by Marks93 (Member # 11130) on :

Call me short sighted but I would buy a truck for it's functionality which is hauling and towing, performance would be secondary. If you're considering a truck for it's performance with no functionality, why don't you just consider a Shelby!!

Stick with your original thoughts on the F-250 and keep your Mustang for performance. You'll be much happier and more versatile.

I like the SRT-10's but I think this one is too much and the mileage is HIGH!!!

Posted by Slowback67 (Member # 6348) on :

I wouldn't buy it.
1. It's got some miles on it. Probably hard miles... That would help explain the reason for the suspension being replaced on one side [Wink]
2. It's a salvage title so your not going to get much for it when you decide to sell it later on.
3. These trucks aren't that fast/heavy. Viper parts aren't exactly cheap either. I also believe these have an iron block opposed to the vipers aluminum block.

NO you have to be a retard, to think this truck is in any way better than a 2nd gen lighting! You could put a charger on a gen 1 and still walk all over this truck! I love it when people ask your opinion, then like a retard disregard it and just go with the other item.

Ok so how about this you take a fat whipple and put in both trucks and tell me who wins? I'm not sure on that outcome because I've never driven a whippled vehicle so don't know but you guys might.... I've driven a lightning and it wasn't stock. Matter of fact a member on here who's a buddy of mine owns it now. His truck is fast but I'll keep doing my research. And as for the srt10 flipping. I LOVE THE VIDEO!!!!

Posted by 96stang4.6 (Member # 9970) on :

for the price i would get a diesel better mpgs better power for towing and built stronger

Posted by Greasy (Member # 5258) on :

I've installed and driven a couple Whipples on a '03 Cobra it only had 764RW but a Whippled Lightning would just be fuckin' sick!

Are you purchasing the truck to race or work/tow rig?

Posted by norcalfiddy (Member # 11207) on :

get a first gen lightning James [patriot]

Posted by LXjames (Member # 10791) on :

So my line up of cars would be a built lx notch for racing, a built street notch, a somewhat modded lx hatch, a f250 with 7.3 for hauling and towing and either a lightning or srt10 or then express r/t with a vortech kit on it for a fun truck

Posted by warhorse58gt (Member # 7702) on :

if you want a truck to play with. Go with a Ford Courier. You can easy drop a efi302 based motor and rape. [patriot]

Then you'll need a clean daily driver, like a cts-v cause it's got an LS1 bruh!

No no, a Ford GT would be the clean daily, or a GT-500 with twins.

2012 gt 5.0 would be my daily haha

Posted by phonso302 (Member # 9260) on :

It had to have had some serious damage to get salvaged.

Posted by Greasy (Member # 5258) on :

You'll need a mansion to park all of them at too, factor that into your budget.

Haha I'll just pull a pauly d and keep something in the house

I wouldnt buy Dodge anything (unless your talking pre 71)

The Cummins is a great engine, best diesel out IMO but they hook it up to a shit transmission and that shit aint cheap to replace.

The SRT10 trucks are shit too. I've seen a few and wasent impressed by them plus im sure it aint cheap to keep up maintenance on that V10. The L is an all around better truck.

If your looking for trucks, I would rate them like this:

Street performance: L

Off Road: Raptor

Towing/Hauling: Ecoboost F-150

Yea there all Fords but when it comes to the truck game, Ford really can't be beat. If there was a better truck by a differnt brand I would list it.

So you think a Ecoboost can out tow a Powerstroke, Cummins, or a Durashit dually? I like my POS Cummins even though it hasn't given me any problems, well actually, I had to do the brakes on it.

No, not at all. When it comes to towing, a diesel will always be better. That’s why every manufacture puts it in there heavy duty trucks.

I was speaking in more of real world terms. The ecoboost can handle 11,000+lbs, gets good gas mileage and is based on a smaller platform so it’s easier to maneuver around. It's better suited for the bay area.

I hate driving my Cummins around in the city, what a PITA. The Ecoboost is definitely hands down the baddest 1/2 ton for towing.
