One stop shops are the best when they have individuals that specialize in different things.

Sounds like a bad idea. Too many people involved. Why not keep it separate and refer to eachother?

lol i dint think this was going to get out so fast lol. umm i do a lot of what fod does, but i do not come close to how gd of work they do,nor can i go to the extent of a job that he does.shoot he fabbed a whole upper tourqe box. that is incredible from scratch!!!! only one company makes that, wild rides and now him. i do not weld as good as them, i take twice as long as they do to even do the job. with metal this guy is one of the best, and hes young with his attituide he will only get better and farther. they do great work have a great attitude. im blessed that there coming here. i dont get alot of the jobs they do, and when they came on to the scene i got even less so im missing nothing, we really specialize in different parts of the car. most of my weak links are his strong points and his weak links are my strong points. we've already done some gd car projects, Adams drift stang was one. and i loved working with him shoulder to shoulder as in we work gd together. we've been already referring each other work for a while now. ive worked with many people before and i honestly feel the most comfortable with him. hes very strait up and says whats on his mind.i dont want his business nor does he want mine, but we do and like to work on cars and we both like to learn more and get farther in life. ive noticed a different attitude and gained some motivation just being around the guy. im stoked!

Sounds like it can work out great, BUT there needs to be a clear line of who does what. stepping on toes ends up being the straw that breaks the camels back!

Jon/Mitch/Duncan...you guys should definitely throw a grand opening party of some kind once the shop is all setup and running. If you dont want it big, at least invite the "team." I, personally, would like to meet all the "new" guys since I'm starting to see a lot of people with "Team FOD" in their signatures. The only guys I know of are Ric, Adam, Efren, and myself as being the "team"...

Is team FOD a car club or just a group of friends that have had work done by FOD?

So is FOD closing because they dont have the time with their other profession, or because they are moving to Duncan's shop? These posts tell different stories.

yep hes got his full time job and doesnt want to give up his love and hobbie , messing with cars. but cant run a full time shop and work full time. so hes closing down for 2 or 3 months for his family and himself to take a gd break like he been saying. hes moving his stuff over here and renting a small section of the shop for storage or personal use. then when hes ready a couple months from now hes gona set up his space and take on work that he can schedule in around his schedule. make sense?
running a business is some dam stress that i don't expect anybody to understand until u actually run one your self. and out of the business Ive seen or run or have had friends run. the automobile business is the most stressful. it really takes a team to spread the load. hopefully one day we can get some more very skilled folks in other areas to join and make this thing a bit bigger.there is electrical, suspension, steering, chassis, advertising, photograph pic, body and paint. when this spot does get bigger or more well known to where these areas are wearing us to thin, we will be looking for more help to join the team. gotta have dreams to get anywhere right!

Who plans on being totally in charge? How do you split who gets paid? Many businesses fail, although they have good ideas and do good work. How will it work with one part time member, who works another job?

he is still fod. i am still duncan motors. any metal or fab work like hes already been doing, he keeps doing.
he was already sending me a gd lil amount of other work besides his specialty. i will stop offering my metal fab skills to my coustomers, but like i said, sense he got on here i haven't had much of that work anyways. we will continue to do work like we already have been doing. where just under the same roof, really not much different. just our customers will get to see both of our work while they are visiting one of us, we can help each other instead of over the phone lol, be a lot easier to work on cars we are sponsoring or supporting cause we do work well together, and learn from each other as well.
and lets say i got a job that would need some metal repair work , hes next door i can sublet that work out to, so my customer would get a better welding job and a quicker turn around. like i said he does this stuff way faster than me. then if hes got a job like lets say a torque box reinforcement and the rearend needs to be removed, im next door and can get that sublet work, witch i do way faster than him. so his customer will get a better faster turn around job as well.
