Made it to Colorado. About 13 of us California engines from all over the Northern California forests. The drive out was cool, drove by the salt flats, some coal mines into canyons that made me feel like I was in Disneyland on thunder mountain or the train around the park with the dinosauers.
It's hot as hell here, 103 in the shade. Hella dry, fire everywhere.

Here's some pics
 -
Holding on a ridge top, protecting the houses behind us and unfortunately watching the ones Infront of us burn. Couldn't save them, they all went together when the flame front hit
 -
Some houses we saved with an American flag that the residents put up for us.

My brother is stationed at Ft Carson in Colorado Springs. He's away at Drill Sergent school in North Carolina while his wife and 2 kids are home in Colorado Springs. That fire was getting really close to their house. Thanks for bitch slapping that fire

Got to meet the Secretary of Homeland Security, the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, the Regional Forester for the region, the Forest Supervisor, the Mayor of Colorado Springs, some FEMA Commanders, the US Fire Administrator and they rolled up with a shit ton of secret service, federal and local officers.
We got our crew picture taken by the famous Wildland Firefighter photographer Kari Greer.

In about an hour we're gonna be interviewed by some reporters so look for me on CNN lol
