Yea, I know...another NON-ford thread! I just picked up an E39 and am pretty excited about it. Super comfortable ride and it feels so stable on the road. Truly a driver's car! Anyone else here have a Bimmer? I plan to keep this pretty stock and just ride it as is, but I may get the bug to start modding the exterior...wheels, drop, exhaust?

I bought an E46 BMW 323ci about a year ago as a daily driver, it is definitely different than a mustang, but so far it has been a good car, it's a 5-speed with a clutch so I really enjoy driving it.
Pros:
Great on gas, looks decent, not too hard to maintain compared to benz, porsche, etc. Handles like a beauty too!
Cons:
Parts can be expensive. Something to look out for it rear subframe failure because it was a common problem in the e39/e46 generations. I had to repair the whole rear subframes but now that I fixed them, they are bullet proof.

I used to have an e36 318is and that thing was bulletproof like a mofo! I never did any maintenance other than fill up the oil (since it burned like crazy lol) and has it up. That car was the best DD I had!
This e39 I have is a alpine white 528i, auto, clean title, etc. Pretty clean an it drives great! Definitely not a mustang but it handles nearly as good as my MM-setup Faleen. It's very impressive.

i have a 2000 540i 6speed...absolutely love it. its a great dd and x20 more comfortable than any mustang ive driven. its pretty dam quick for a full size sedan and will prolly give any stock 2valves a good run.
might i ad its a great car to "stance" the fuck out.

I had an E60 545i sport package, and loved it. except for the repairs that would pop up...like when i had to replace a waterpump for 1k...luckily i had mechanical breakdown coverage thru mercury and they covered 800 of it. i saw that as a bad sign, and as soon as i put a new waterpump in, i traded it for my ls2 chevy waaaay cheaper to maintain imo

Currently have a 2008 328i. My warranty runs out this month. I am afraid to find out how much the extended warranty will cost.

nice! Do you have the front and rear M5 bumpers on there? Do you know if there are any lips that are available to add to the stock front bumper?

Nice line up of E34's! Did you just sell that white one within the past 2 months or so? I think I saw it on Sac CL with different wheels I know the one that was on CL was pretty nicely done but had 240k+ miles or something like that.

@sidewaysix...yeah i have the m5 front and rear bumper. they have alotta shit for the outside you can change or add on these e39's. ive been looking a while now but had to finish my notch before i could start with my bimmer. typically, you want the 01-03 headlights and tail lights.
heres a link to a variety of lips for the stock bumpers

sweet bimmers fellas! Looks like most of your cars are dropped. Are you guys running coilovers or lowering springs? If springs, what brand/model are you guys running? I want to drop mine but not too low...

Very nice! That's true inspiration for me to do the m5 bumpers lol! Are your bumpers oem or aftermarket? What suspension are you running?

Those are stock E39 m5 wheels...I love their look too! If I do the M bumpers I'll probably try and get these wheels. That, or some BBS LM reps.

I just got back from releasing my e46 to AllState Ins. (car accident) that was my second BMW I owned pretty solid cars and very easy to work on. If any of you need a BMW owner's manual, jack, spare tire, tool kit or the flash light let me know.

Why do you say that? Bimmers are bad as cars...way better built then a FORD in my opinion. I love Cobra but theres nothing better than DD'ing a car that can outperform mt "race/track car" in STOCK FORM

they're boring maintenance whores, I'm happy for you, really I am, but almost all my friends tripped into the bmw bandwagon, one has replaced the cooling system 4 times in an m3, another the engine rebuilt twice in an e39 540i/6, another done 3 motor swaps in an e36, another just gave his e39 528i to the junkyard because it was too expensive to keep on the road.
by all means, take an e39 528i automatic to the track though, good way to kill a set of front tires and brakes

I could use the owners manual and tool kit, but would be willing to take all of that off your hands if you'd prefer.
