Took about 12 hours of wrench time, not hard, but pretty time consuming. I went with a set of Livernois stage 3 243's milled to 11.2:1, 2.02/1.6 manley SS valves, Manley Nextek spring and Ti retainers, the whole deal. A custom grind EPS/LXL lobe 230/230 .598 .605 111+2 cam and a set of TFS 7.350 pushrods. I'm expecting 470rw with minimal low end tq loss while being a mid range screamer and pulling solid to 6,800 rpm! All in a 3,060lb car [Smile] . Ford only but riders, let's hear it....

Replacing valve seals and cleaning the heads
 -

Intake port
 -

Exhaust port
 -

Getting it apart
 -

Done for the day lol
 -

Billet double roller
 -

Going back together
 -

Starting to look like something again
 -

Get'r done? Lol
 -

All done! (this turbo is going on the 5.3 in the video that's going in the all tubular, back halved n caged 65 mustang in the video)

FIRST START UP! no mufflers.

Sounds good. Car looks clean!!

What did all the parts cost if you don't mind me asking. I am always curious with the corvette tax.

Must say one hell of a job and guaranteed your going to feel that cam only car due to ls6 heads are stock from factory [patriot] [burnout] [worship]

good job!!! that work was on the stock heads? how much did that cost?and total cost in parts? and smog ? i got a c5 also, i like the power but well u know lol. the beer bottles was a great touch lol.

dam that thing must pull super hard now

The C5Z is the best bang for your buck performance car on the planet. If I could afford to crash a corvette race car I would definitely be racing one instead of a fox. That thing will haul the mail and the motors are pretty much bullet proof.

Only thing I bought used were the heads. $1100, brand new from livernois they're $1800. I think I'm into it all about $2200 with gaskets, hardware, injectors (Bosch 36's (42's)). Just to be clear these are the OEM casting head that came on the car but livernoise has CNC'd them and did the valves ect, they flow over 300cfm on the intake @ .600", with excellent low/mid lift flow. I kept the intake exhaust split on the cam to a minimum to increase velocity and keep it peppy for the street.

Lookin good man!!! I can't wait to get a ride in this thing. Based on how hard my 3,900lb car with the same motor (with a cam & exhaust only) pulls, this thing must be a beast... HELLO low 11's all day!!!

Hell ya, what I want to know is what kind of power difference there is and if the owner can feel a dramatic increase in power...

It sounds like a montser though !

I would love to be out there throwing up bottom 11's @ 125ish but I don't think I have the time or money to get tires and my new clutch set up by then. Damn!

Don't have any real pics. To be honest the paint needs and full correction and detail. It's just a black C5Z with black chrome wheels lowered an inch, nothing special lol

what cam you running? longtubes? with a full tick hydraulic setup and textrallia clutch you should be able to hit damn near 11 flats maybe high tens, (depends on the driver and tires) my boy's cam only Z06 was only about 1/4 fender behind this c6 we raced, figure with heads that oughtta make it faster?

Cam specs are in the first post. Not ghetto ass MS3's lol long tubes and off road X, stock Ti cat back. It'll be tick hydraulics and a monster stage 2 with aluminum flywheel. No trying to go balls out at the track and break something, just some tires that can get me a 1.8-9 60' and not break loose in 3rd lol my goal is bottom 11's @ 125. Then when this gets old the 11.2:1 will love the spray [Wink]

lol there's nothing wrong with the ms series cams, ms3s make ls1s into monsters, I put a ms4 in my boy's 02 z06 and the thing was a fucking monster. try the new mickey thomson street slick, my boys car almost did wheelies, might even be too much traction lol.

Was thinking about those... As far as the MS3/4 goes, I equate it to a E cam lol they're top end screamers, drag/track/freeway cams. This cam will maximize tq under the curve will gaining a shit ton up top. There's no reason to over cam a motor, it's counter productive. Ide rather make 50ft lbs more than a MS3 2,500rpm sooner than make 15hp more at 7k...

it certainly was an agressive cam, but really driveable, drove it to san diego and back 3 times no problems, but i hear ya, a cam with more mid range would probly be better for daily driving.

462/435 are the final #'s. this graph shows what the cam and heads added, the only change in the tune regarding peak #'s really being a/f corrected and 1* less total timing. Not bad I guess. It's a different car, that's for sure. The Vararam needs to be moving to shine as well!
