Had a funny ricer encounter at O'riley In Vallejo


So I went to O'riley (Kragen) on Springs Road the other day to get a new oil pan gasket and filter for my powerglide. Here is how our conversation went down.

O'riley - What year car is it for?

Me - I dont know, I have it in a different car. Just type in a 60's chevy or something.

O'riley - Oh yea... What kind of car you got it in?

Me - A mustang.

O'riley - You race it?

Me - Yep.

O'riley - Whats done to it?

Me - Nothing itz stock

O'riley - Than why do you have a powerglide in it?

Me - Because I wanted to make my car slower. Thats why I put a 2 speed in it.

O'riley - Really? Bring it down here.

Me - I cant drive it on the street. You trying to race or something? What you got?

O'riley - Yep, I got a bel-air, What you got in the mustang? Why cant you drive it?

Me - Not much, Just a big block. And Cause its not street legal.

O'riley - Oh yea, I got a small block im mine. Run's in the 11's

Me - Wow Ok, lets run for some cash.

O'riley - My boy got a rx-7 that will run for some cash. Got a mustang motor in it.

Me - Ok ask him if he wants to run.

-----So they put my parts on order and I leave and come back the next day.

Me - So whats up with that mazda... does he want to run for some cash?

O'riley - F no man. you got a big block in a mustang.

Me - Ok how about that bel-air you got?

O'riley - Nope. How about you go get your car and drive it down here.

Me - I told you its not street legal.

O'riley - Come on man, Get your car ill race you right now on springs road right here.

Me - Are you serious man? You wanna race down a busy ass street. Ill race you at Red Top road.

O'riley - Naw man. Alright tell you what, ill race you from here to Richmond. First one there wins. Ill even drive my acura.

Me - Ill race you at the track legaly and we can put money on it.

O'riley - Ok you wanna race for money... My friend has a camaro with 20 racks under the hood.

Me - Is it the guy with the 383 with a supercharger on it? If so, I know him and his car never even worked right so it not even together anymore.

-----So I leave on that note. They still didnt have my part. I come back the next day (Today) and the guy with the camaro is actually at O'riley! So I go inside and talk to mr O'riley

Me - Is that the guy with the camaro?

O'riley - Yep thats him.

-----I walk up to the guy in the camaro and say whats up. (I know him) ask him how his car is doing and if he knows mr O'riley. He says he doesnt even know the guy lol.


Guy thought he was cool un'till I said what I got and that I would race him. Than he has a friend that will race. When I say ill race him he says he will race me on a busy street. Than wants to race from one city to another! Than trys to set up a race with someone he doesnt even know lol.

This guy is a true ricer at heart! Why do some people try so hard to be cool?


Next time anyone goes to O'riley on springs in vallejo you should ask him if he wants to race lol. He is a very tall white guy. Cant miss him if he is there.

Man I hate car parts stores that have dumb ass employees! I had some guy swear up and down that he had a 8 second 5.0 and that it was a 89 gt cobra saleen!! Or the infamous what's it got? Or the yea my boy story or no that's not what has or is!!!!!! That's why I'm happy to know my boy Jose that manages the Fremont autozone has 4 ASE certs 1 of them in parts

Anyone ever buy friction modifier, i tried but they told me they didnt have it or know what it was, plus he told me just to put straight gear oil lol

+1. you ask them for the part you need, and they say "whats the year and make of the car?" when it doesnt matter since you told them what you need, or they try to tell you the part wont fit or work on the car.

ive stop going to oriley auto parts tho. EVERYTIME i go in there for a simple part, i end up going back the next day to return it. they always give me the wrong parts.

so i just go to autozone or napa now.

when i call the local oreillys after 5. i have to tell them how to run there computer, where to find the parts at. and argue with them about yes they have it in stock, down to even hose clamps.

my friends old manager at kragens had a 68 maro that looked and sounded really intimidating supposedly had a 383 with dart heads, demon carb (it defenitely had heads and carb) and 315s or maybe bigger some serious meats on it, swore it was fastest car in town, set up a 3 way race between my boys stock longblock chevelle with 373s and a 12 bolt, and my other boys stock 5.0 with 3.55s, camaro got smoked by like 6 car lengths by the mustang, and the chevelle won by a half car, moral of the story, learn how to tune your car, a parts list doesn't equal mph.

I just went to o'rileys again and talked to his co workers

He said the guy read this post lol. He said he had one of his friends there with a mustang saying him or anyone of his friends will race me anytime.

I need to get my car back together and start sawin some of these noobs off.

Funny stuff.
