My best friends dad pay 6 figures in taxes every year. It sucks, but he's making enough money to live a good life regardless. That's where I wanna be. Fuck what the gov does. What are YOU doing? [patriot]

I owed 130 to feds, and got back 800 from state. Wife was pissed, said we should have gotten more back. I showed her why, she was unemployed and we didnt have any taxes taken out of her unemployment benifits, and I had almost 2k less taken out of my check. That was money we needed for month to month expenses, diapers, baby food. Once i explained it that way, she calmed down.

open ur own business no matter how stupid or small. for example,,,,, a base ball card inspecter. bein a business owner u have control of your taxes, ur gas is a write off, food is a write off.clothes , trips, bridge toll everydam thing that u buy except for hookers and camels are a write off one way or the other, now im not saying lie, but there def advantages, in the first 3 years u can claim a loss without any problems. make a business u like as a hobbie, and maybe in three years u will love what u do and it might make more than u working for some one else. i pay in quarter taxes but that's it.and that's only for parts that i mark up, so the government wants there cut on top of sales taxes. so for example im not marking parts up any more. by by quarter taxes almost, folks get cheaper parts, i dont have to come with government money 4 times a year. i still have the yearly taxes, but i got some dam gd write off, as well. your car with a lil sticker with your business logo is now your advertisement write off.i might not get a ton back, but the more write off i come up with, the better it seams to get. and none of my checks lol are government taxed.

What they the federal, state & local Gov do can greatly affect your life and your paycheck. Why should the gov take more then half of someone's income to begin with? Doesn't leave as much incentive to work harder and make more money does it?

I DO claim 0 and have 200 bucks taken out of every check for my 403B (like 401K). I guess I have to pay because I'm single, not a house owner, no kids, and make over 6 figures

^ You need to buy a house then LOL.

This is some what true. I am a business owner and have been for the last 10+ years. Started off as a side gig, but as you grow and become profitable the need to show this growth and profit becomes paramount. That means being square with the IRS. This year I benefited from some tax relief for employing folks. But still ended up owing. But being able to write off just about anything is a great feeling. But at a certain point you have a very keen eye for detail or you will screw yourself. And if you ever want to grow, you will have to pay the piper (IRS) eventually.

You gotta claim more deductions. Having receipts for charitable donations to a religious organizations and non-profits cuts taxes a lot...

Back in the day before the Gov got wise, getting beater rollers for a couple hundred bucks, and donating them to charities, would let you write off their BlueBook value as a deduction...

I haven't owed any taxes since 2001. I usually get a decent return.

Technically we all pay taxes, it's just at the end of the year when we square up with Uncle Sam, some overpaid and get some money back and some under paid and owe more. This last year I had $15k taken out just by the feds. I'm one of those lucky ones who overpaid, so Uncle Sam is giving me $2500 back.

I claim 0, deduct 10% for 401K and still got slapped with a 8K IRS bill. So I guess this country isn't as "Free" as they say...

I usually get back 4k a year but I'm a home owner.

I'm curious to see how bonus's are dealt with. I usually only have a small bonus like a few thousand, but last year our video game paid out and I received almost $20k in profit sharing bonus's.

My accountant hasn't told me what's going to happen yet, if I have to pay or if I get a huge refund because those checks were taxed at a higher rate [Confused]

I seem to get hit both at time of payment on bonus roughly 40% then at end of year.

Agree, last year I got my taxes done at a senior volunteer place. (All old folks, ex IRS agents people like that) the old lady told me, "Always claim 0 since you have no house or kids and you won't owe and will get at least a small amount back". They take a shit load off every paycheck but I didn't have to pay and got like $1500 back.

Uncle Sam sucks ass tho, next year I'm claiming my grandma on that foo as a dependent!! [Big Grin]
