So I just noticed my clutch is slipping just a liiiiiiittttlllleeeee bit N I was thinking of just throwing on a new one just don't know which one to go with. I was looking at RAM HDX clutch kit kuz it'll hold up to 450hp N pretty cheap. So I was wondering if any of you have it installed? How is it on the leg N how is the grip? Any other suggestion for clutches that hold 450-500hp range?

Go to uprproducts.com

They have a king cobra clutch kit with a heavy duty pressure plate, clutch disc, pilot bearing, throwout bearing, alignment tool, firewall adjuster, triple hook quadrant, and adjustable clutch cable for only like $220. The description says it holds up to 650hp, but I doubt it'll hold THAT much. Still the best bang for your buck and they can handle plenty of abuse.

UPR FTW! [patriot]

Automatic FTW bro haha. Just do your research bruh and you'll be good I just sold my ford racing king cobra clutch for dirt cheap that would of been ideal for your setup in the mean time. I do have a spec pressure plate that I will sell you for cheap just to see you get that 4 eye back on the road. Lmk.

I played soccer for many years I can kick a head off a motherfucker if I wanted to so don't worry about my legs. N I don't really see a point in doing my clutch twice kuz I don't know how to install one so I'd have to pay twice the clutch N twice the labor.

I'll look into this. I don't NEED a clutch right now it only slips when I'm in higher RPMs N going about 70 N put it to the floor. So imma do as much research as I can so I can choose one. [patriot]

Those rams are junk my buddy had on on his car it was. Rand new and was slipping like a mofo

I would look into a Spec Stage 3+. Not super aggressive pedal. Can handle your needs well.

It'll rev more but not go as fast as it should, when it slips you'll know what I'm talking about. Mine right now slips at 4th gear around 4,500 RPMs N slips by like ~250 RPMs when I put it to the ground of course.

I had the ram hdx clutch in my coupe I liked it it felt like it held up nice and smooth. I only drove it for like 20 miles then I sold the car lol but it felt solid and griped. For 190 you can't go wrong w that clutch I think it's worth it

dont buy too aggressive, you still have a t-5. a 500hp clutch is no good when your tranny can only handle 300hp. even if you go aftermarket T-5 the input shaft changes and you will need a new disc and unless this swap is in the near future you probably will want to replace it all. slap a king cobra or regular spec in it and roll.

I've heard of people having good luck with a lot more power than that on a stock T-5. I think imma either go that king cobra kit that UPR products has or the Ram HDX

^^^ this is true. the point I was making was buying a clutch rated at more then your tranny can handle is pointless. if you decide to put sticker tires on the car with a clutch that grips too good , next thing to break is the tranny.

Ay if it ever does break it would give me a reason to get a good ass transmission. [Big Grin]

All I've run is king cobras in all the 50z I've built, & they've range from hci 150 shots, hci charged, & hci daily driven, daily donuts, daily raced, & trips 2 LA & that's been goin on for over 4years & still goin!!.. .. & not 1 has gone out yet!!!

Actually I jus remembered I reused the same. Clutch in the hci charged & hci 150, & its still goin!!

I think I might be sold on this one from what I've read on the UPR website, great price too.

I wouldn't go wit the upr quadrant I think its garbage wit the 3 hooks, & I personally don't like firewall adjusters! Hit me up if u need it installed!

Ya I hate that they raised the price & changed the way there made & come witout the t/o bearing, but upr looks like they got the old setup & prices, wish I knew that wit the last 3 50z I jus did!

i Ran the Spec stage 1 clutch, cable feels softer then stock and grabs like no other, had a ram hd, shit took some hulk legs to push it down, hated it in traffic, love the new spec clutch, runs very well...even my mom said the clutch pedal was soft compared to the ram lmao

Posted by SSF 50 (Member # 7219) on :

If u already got aftermarket quarant & cable, then u jus gotta get the clutch & t/o bearing, if u need a cable get the Ford racing 1..

I gotta drive the Svo again 2 c how the clutch is cause when I first put it 2gether I didn't like it but u said it got better so I wanna try it..

Posted by NEIGHT (Member # 8741) on :

Yeah I only have a cheap clutch cable from autozone I mean it works great but I think it might be close to snapping when I looked at it yesterday on the fork.

Posted by SSF 50 (Member # 7219) on :

Ya that's jus a stock cable, u should switch it out 2 the Ford racing adjustable 1! Wat quarant u have?

Yeah I will when I order the clutch kit along with a new flywheel just so I don't have to worry about resurfacing it N all that bs. N I'm not shure I got it with my car I have pedals from like 94-98 with an alluminum quadrant.
