I only use amsoil. I order everything directly through the site. I pay the $20 a year for the preferred account that gives me wholesale prices on everything. I get 0w-30 signature series for about 8 bucks a quart. Not bad. Plus I get oil for my bike as well so I save a lot of money in the end. I use the EO11 filter. They have a 6 month trial membership for 10 bucks. Worth it just to order once.

Its great oil.. I've used it in all my vehicles and it is much better than the other oils I've used..

Where are you located? There's a distributor in San Carlos that has everything you'd need..

I say keep using amsiol since it's a fully synthetic oil. I've heard Royal Purple is not even synthetic, isn't it a blend? [Confused] [Confused]

My dad used only mobil 1 in all his taxis he owned at sfo and they all were operated 24-7. he said he used mobil 1 from when it was brand new til the taxi was past 100k miles and out of service then tore down the engine and said there was pretty much no wear and the engine was incredibly clean. Hes also tried Redline but still prefers mobil 1 because the oil life is longer and stays alot cleaner.

I would think royal purple is more like redline.

Amsoil is $10.15/ Quart. Expensive. . . But 15k miles between oil changes kinda makes up for it?

Amsoil is fantastic stuff. I use their products in most cars i've owned. I currently run their 0w-30 Signature Series and the EA Oil filter in my Mustang... change it once a year.

I also run their EA Air Filter, and i put a half a bottle of PI Performance Improver gas additive through the fuel tank every other year or 5,000 miles... whichever comes first.

Depends which one of their oils you go for, but for the Signature Series;

-Extended drain intervals (up to 15k miles)
-true 100% synthetic base stock (group IV)
-superior shear resistance
-higher than API allowed levels of ZDDP (Zinc anti-wear additive)
-higher resistance to "foaming"

check out the Used Oil Analysis section of BobistheOilGuy.com;

Amsoil routinely returns fantastic UOA's

Amsoil is a TPS standard.
We use it and recommend it in all of our builds.
I keep it in stock.
Trans Fluid, Diff Fluid, Coolant & Oil

Its the only fluid used in my fox build, a well as the daily 07.

After the break in period its what I use in my jet skis since they are under boost 90% of the time I want something that will hold up.

Yes it is hard to find especially for marine engines. Have to buy minimum of a case at a time for what I need.

+1, especially since the motor is probably more important than both the tranny and rear-end put together, well in most cases... [Roll Eyes]

Yea, I would.. My mustang with over 145,000 on it has it and so does my ranger with 192,000. Only stuff I use.. If you get a preferred membership the cost goes down a decent amount..

how do i know which type of amsoil to choose?

Posted by 9cobra7 (Member # 2812) on :

People who say don't use it have no idea what there talking about.
I use it in my track only road race cobra and my over 600 hp (100k mile 383) street mustang.
If your going to switch to this oil from conventional oil you need to do an engine flush to remove all the deposits left behind. From what I understand it's never to late to switch to this oil as it's the best product out there.
Talk to a dealer, read the testimonials, talk to people who abuse cars on tracks......the stuff works!
Someone mentioned earlier about the guy in San Carlos on El Camino, he's the dealer I buy from and very knowledgable (john).

depending on where the op is located there is an AMSOIL dealer in Belmont. he's right on Elcamino next 76. it may be considered san carlos.

Yes BUT, sometimes when people switch to a high quality synthetic (Amsoil, Mobil 1, German Castrol etc etc) after using conventional oil for years and years and thousands and thousands of miles... the car can develop an oil leak.

This can occur as the detergents in high quality synthetic oils like Amsoil have cleaned away sludge and deposits left behind by conventional oils, revealing a preexisting leak that was previously clogged by junk...

Signature Series. 0w30 or 5w30 are both great year round oils in most cars. If your car owners manual specifies something heavier like 10w40 or 15w50, then go European car Formula 5w40 or Premium Protection 10w40 or 20w50...

If your car is heavily modded, or a garage queen sitting for months at a time, their Z-ROD formula is great. It has higher levels of ZDDP, and is more resistant to corrosion and rust.

another thing to consider, is how long you want to go between oil changes... Not all their oils go 15k+ between changes. Here's a chart of their oil application and drain intervals;
