Lately I have had lots of free time and need to find a new hobby. I was thinking about maybe buying a metal detector, I figure it could be good exercise and exciting. Any thoughts or ideas from anyone?

My only suggestion would be to find a hobby that will possibly provide some kind of financial support if ever needed... I made a hobby out of installing car audio and it definitely helps out financially when needed.

What are some of your other interest besides cars?
I personally love listening to all types of music and have always been a fan of music production. So now I buy records and sample them into my sampler and make little beats here and there to pass the time and mellow out.

Funny you should bring it up, because i have been considering the same thing. That's a really good hobby, my old neighbor's father was into metal detectors. He started his flourishing business with one of his finds. He found a very rare Spanish armada gold bullion coin here on the Monterey peninsula that he sold for $80,000. !!! Talk about luck right .. But yea it's great exercise and you can do it just about anywhere.

Photography is fun but very costly! Get a nice used dslr and get acquainted with certain settings then get yourself something nice to grow with. Or you can go out and have some kids...they'll definitely take up a lot of your time [Big Grin]

I'd be recording the whole time. N I wasn't kidding on what I said. Supposably a 17 year old jumped off on friday N survived, oh N it was a dare?

Lots of good ideas thanks guys. Lol do people really jump that often?? I used to play paintball but that got way to pricey. Metal detectors can be a lot of $$ but there's always the chance of making it back with a good find and the thrill of the hunt!

Yeah I read somewhere that theres a person that jumps off every other week. Since it happens that often they don't announce it on the news. Golden Gate Bridge is like #1 on the list for suicides.

Crab fishing, poker, online gaming (Xbox 360) or get a dog and train him ,like a German Sheppard maybe. Or you could be like in storage wars, and go do that whole thing too.

Fishing, camping, shooting, photography I try to do a little bit of each. Seems to be a little cheaper and more relaxing then the car for now anyways.

Honestly man you will never see a better time to do this in our lifetime. Most of the top companies were started in a down economy. I currently own a business but we branched out into a clothing line and our first time out we did well. We are relaunching this summer. I say do it playa!

Is that an OUTLAW with the KTM 525cc ? Or is it a Predator 500cc

surfin craigslist, buying and selling. ive done a lot of it, i guess you can call it a hobby. lol more like a job cause you gotta deal with 98% of the craigslist flakes. ebay too.

about a year ago i got a complete 440 jetski for $35 with a blown motor, parted it out on craigslist/ebay and make almost $500.

same with my last foxbody, picked it up for pretty much $150, parted it out and made around $2000. and building my new car off that $$, and i still have the motor from it.

but craigslist is a hit and miss, but if you keep checking once or twice a day, you might find something worth buying and reselling to make a quick buck.

also, buying cheap gocarts, dirtbikes, etc helps too, clean then up, paint, tune up, etc and you double your money on them.

I have some rather old ones actually. I have 2 RC-10s, I have a Clod Buster and I still have my grasshopper (my first RC). I want to get off into gas powered ones. I picked up a RC Action the other day and they have came HELLA far on the technology and stuff available for RCs.

Yea those are slick too. I am more into the off road RCs. I think I have a Traxxas too, I gotta look through some boxes of stuff. Ya'll got me wanting to go home and spark em up now and play with them...lol. I would be down with a board RC car get together.

Waaaay back, my friend and I used to race at a track in San Jose called "Innovations". I wonder if the RC track is still there?
