What kind do you use and do they actually help/work at all? I find myself driving on the freeway out on 280 a lot of see the cops out there all the time. Would like a little heads up if they actually work. Never bought one.

I have a $100 cobra radar detector. It works! Best investment I've made. Its saved me about 8 times now. Don't expect it to work ALL of the time because the radar/lidar signals are blocked at times when cars are blocking the view.. but it will help a bunch.

Dumb question but does it work against undercover cops not in a marked police car?

If you get stopped by an unmarked/ undercover police car I don't think they're primary concern is giving you a ticket.

Actually I've gotten a speeding ticket from an undercover in an unmarked car before.

i had pos cobra one cheap 50 dollar one saved me a few times, but got pulled over once and gave it to the cop "told him here it doesnt work anymore" he laughed n said "sign here"

They could pull you over and say they "paced" you for a few miles. That's what a CSI in an unmarked SUV once did. So watch yourself ....

So the Valentine one is like $500 bucks? you guys really say it's worth it, I guess I will bite the bullet and get one. Thanks for the input.

Valentine 1 has saved me about 12 times now. It even picks up cops around corners too. It is a really good investment if you are taking long road trips ie.tahoe, yosemite, reno, vegas, etc.
