There is nothing to be worry about, we have Autodesk Inventor Professional 2012, Robot Structural Analysis Professional 2012, Mechanical Desktop 2010 and Autocad full system 2012, as you can see we can even make the 3D drawing of the whole car frame and run a Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to verify any stress and strain in the frame and the weld, is this enough for you?, i hope that you know what is all this software about. Bring you car tomorrow

LOL WTF does any of that shit have to do with building a nhra cage ? and no computer will tell you what suspension settings will work. I work in THE MOST HIGH TECH CHASSIS SHOP IN THE COUNTRY ! And we dont use any of that shit to build our cages. Many other parts yes. Tobias does do good work seen a lot of it at the track. I cant speak to your work because i have never seen it in person. Not saying you do bad work or not. but the fact that you tried to throw out that you have a bunch of cool guy computer software, that dont mean shit, does concern me a little.

+1, a computer can't teach you how to make a rollcage. Tobias don't use no computer also. Just for fun i googled those software and couldn't find nothing about them getting a cage to cert.

all you need to build a cert legal cage, any spec all the way to a 25.1 is a nhra rule book, it tells you where all the bars have to go

And just a FYI it is impossible to "copy" a cage from chassis works. The bender that they use uses a special bending process that pushes the metal to the bend point, keeping the out side of the bend just as thick as it was before it was bent. So just because you buy a chassis works cage and bend it the same dont make it the same. unless you have a million dollar bender

Exactly, when I talk about software I'm not just referring to roll cages I'm also referring to suspension and chassis reinforcements. We dont buy prefab parts we fabricate our own. The engineer uses the software to double check our work and to make sure our measurements are correct. I always enjoy talking to people that are knowledgeable in this type of work. Thanks!

I didnt know you asked me that question haha. honestly, i dont know. Maybe, maybe not. Like I said, I honestly dont care since I will never be looking to get a cage certified for those times, let alone for drag racing purposes. But what I do know is that (from what I have seen come out of their shop) they can fabricate cages that will meet and pass certification for NASA and SCCA racing. [patriot]

I mean seriously, Jon and Mitch's welding skills are on par with the best of them. I'm just curious why so much anger towards these guys. I have nothing but good things to say about them; their workmanship, customer service, work ethics, etc. The way I see it, because FOD hasn't been around very long they dont have a lot of work to showcase like Maier or Tobias, but from the few cars I've seen at their shop(mind you I'm no metal worker), they know what they're doing

Like I said, I honestly dont care since I will never be looking to get a cage certified for those times, let alone for drag racing purposes. But what I do know is that (from what I have seen come out of their shop) they can fabricate cages that will meet and pass certification for NASA and SCCA racing.

You realize your 7.50 nhra cage won't get you on the track for a road race in NASA or SCCA. Two different sports with totally different safety requirements. Turn off the caps and stop running your keyboard.

NASA legal cages can take a lot of abuse.

I am pretty sure that FOD does what they can to the best of their ability, so let them do their work, they might not have a certified cage but hey there's a first for everything.
