My personal expirience it's been 50/50, depends on the cop I guess. I always said no though and didn't pop anything.

I've been pulled over twice for inadequate exhaust, they never popped my hood. But I did get sent to the state ref this last time [Mad]

Shit , I have once and the only mods I had at the time was a BBK cold air , GT-40 tubular , BBK headers and a FPR and the punk mothersf****** sent my ass to the Ref . I ended up just selling that Mustang . Didn't wanna deal with the hassle of putting everything back to stock just to be scrutinized by the Ref.

Twice I have and each time they just wanted to talk about the car and once the officer asked me to give it some gas as I left then I did a burn out through 3erd as I left it each time it freaked me out each time though

I got My hood poped once ...car was all stock . Just flows and a bassani x pipe with hollowed cats. They just said the car was too loud for being stock

F that guy!!! i was asked to pop my hood because of loud exhaust (upr xpipe) dude new his stuff about mods lol asked if i had cats or not, so told him i didnt. let me go with a modified tail lights ticket (smoked). scared me half to death fudge [BS flag]

I've gotten pulled over about 3 times, once in l.a. last year the weekend in knotts for the way the car sounded..I guess they all must've been car lovers cause they told me the car sounded great, asked me what was done to it and how much power it was making..lol..at first I was hesitant but I'm usually pretty honest when I get pulled..cops can spot someone bullshitting better than anyone, so I told them everything...they stop, take a step back, look at the car and tell me bad ass...lol..to myself I'm like sweet..another cop told me u bet u get all kind of girls in this, I pointed to the back seat where my girl was layed out in the back seat half asleep with no seat belt and replied "not no more".he looked in the back seat and laughed..he told me he pulled me over jus cause he wanted to check it out..said he liked it..1 time wasn't too lucky..accidently pulled into.a d.u.I. checkpoint..had literally about 15-20 cops under my hood..I guess u can tell what happened there

I got pulled over for loud exhaust I was running bbk headers bbk h pipe with pre cats an flow masters but I got let go with a warning he didn't even bother to pop my hood

2 out of the 4 times I've got pulled over well make it 3 CHP asked me to popped my hood I told him car was all stock and I can pop it he said no but he kept bugging me and asking if I had mods

When I got pulled over for loud exhaust the cop was being a dick. So I wS being a dick back. He said I didnt have mufflers because it was to loud. I told him I have mufflers and cats take a look for yourself he said am not going to get dirty and look. Then he said pop your hood then I told him no I dont have to then he was like well then am gonna get your car towed so I said fuck it so he gave me a state ref I parted out the car didnt want to go threw all that bs and after all that I never recieved shit!

Besides chrome, and LT's, my car looks stock under the hood. Thats why I love exploder intake with factory plague.

Shoot bout 8years ago i was heading to the Oakland airport and was pulled over by CHP. At the time i had my 1992 thunderbird with the 5.0L. ....cop had me pop my hood also. At that time these guys were just starting to be trained. This guy asked me all kinds of questions about anything and everything under the hood. He had no ideas of what was modified and factory. Long story short he wasted my time getting to my flight. The mods i had were. ....... flows. TFS intake manifold.k&n filter. The s/c body kit. Authentic Ford SVT t-bird COBRA wheels. Eibach springs. Koni yellow adjustable struts and shocks. 2-1/2"Cowl hood. authentic Saleen wing. Custom black seats with blue center seating areas. Front and back complete. Swapped rear seat back with fold down armrests. Changed to black carpet and seat belts. Had window tint and factory sunroof. Car just looked quick!!! that's all it took.....no ticket tho. Just made me mad bout the wasted time for check-in and couple drinks before takeoff. I wasn't speeding or anything. It was the Middle of a perfect sunny day too! Never know. I was waiting for him to say some stuff bout goin to the state referee. I wanted a challenge by that point. [patriot]

I got my hood popped in daly city, didnt get reffed but he knew wut i had, but i played like a dumbass that didnt know how to change his oil and jus said i bought the car cuz it was loud.

Union city last year cop knew his stuff he was mad I was racing and said he will tow my car next time i was in town lol...after he told me he has a wrx at home...I think he wanted to race! let me go with the warning!!

It sounds like you received some amount of satisfaction from mouthing off to him despite the officer sending you to the ref which led you to part the car.

My lx is as about as illegal as it gets when it comes to that stuff. No hood no ac no smog what so ever with hedman headers and offroad x and dumped flows. I'd be at lights choppin right next to cops while they stare at
me all muggin and shit but never gave a fuck slap the gas and be out. I got pulled over in my corolla more than the mustang
