Any opinions from owners. Lookin at 2011 tahoes and expeditions besides the obvious appearance differences I can't figure if the expedition is worth the 10k more on the price tag.

Expedition, imo. I'm partial because we had an older one, I rolled it and my and my friend climbed out the sunroof completely unharmed. Dad has one in Oregon and LOVES it. He owns a bar/tavern and uses the shit out of it, loves the room and the ride!

Gotta be honest and I hate to say this cause it's a GM but I would have to go Tahoe. The expedition hasn't been changed in years and even though Ford got all new truck engines the damn expedition is still left with the old 5.4. My buddy owns a Yukon and it's roomier, looks better if you want to drop rims on it, and has a lot more power. Ford needs to get it together the Expedition and Navigator styles and engines are strongly in need of upgrades!

Honestly I wouldn't buy either one..... I'd take a 250 over both.

I had a 2wd tahoe murdered out ... I loved that thing I put 100k miles on it without issues!

The better question price aside, what do you like better. This sounds old school but write a pros/cons list about each and see what you really favor.

there can be debates over gm vs chevy muscle cars. BUT for GM trucks vs Ford Trucks. GM>Ford. In reliability, towing performance, everything.

Disagree, my Excursion is by far the best SUV I've ever owned!

Well I'd take a denali or suburban over an Excursion any day. That's just my opinion.

But I'm biased since I've owned only one Ford SUV and it was an expedition and it was a crapmachine.

I still have my 1997 4x4 Tahoe with about 170k on the clock, and the tranny is just starting to go out after 3 years of daily beating and I'm talking BEATING.

You clearly don't have a family of 5+friends and tow a boat [Wink]

I actually do an no sorry I don't own a boat, maybe when I'm older, but I do have a jet ski that I tow with my tahoe and it does the job just fine. Plus it looks better.

Youre on crack! My Excursion is more comfortable, could pull the shit out of your Tahoe, gets better mileage, my adults in the back are comfortable aswell as as all of our luggage more than fits and I can still tow a loaded boat camping!

Diesel excursion, no manufacturer will ever make such a great SUV.

Posted by 2BlueGeeTees (Member # 4702) on :

Well excursion is definitely not an option plus I am trying to buy a new car. I've looked at the tahoes and I'm going to look at the expeditions today. The one thing that does bother me however is that the f150s have the choice of the 5.0 and 6.2 which are both monster and the damn expedition still has a gutless 5.4 3valve. And i bet as soon as I were to buy one ford would announce a new engine package for the expedition
