just keep in mind if your doing a complete that 3qts is barely less then a gallon usually, on the price.I used to let people know the price difference up front and 9 out of 10 times they just went gallon.so you pretty much get a QT for free to have for touch up etc.

3 qts is actually 1.5 sprayable gallons,u have to reduce 1:1,that's plenty

depends on the car and how much you have to paint. you start painting a lot of nooks and cranies and it goes quick!

OR door jambs or the hatch jamb,or engine compartment.

paint is measured to the nearest hundreth. some colors that take balancer and flop control agent are very picky on exact amounts, and sometimes the color never matches perfectly. if you have to buy more, its a pain for the customer. for example if the color calls for 31.5 of pigment and you put in your 31.50 you never know what the difference is after its carried out 2 digits so 1st time around it could be 31.5056 next time it could be 31.5089 OR even better the place claims they mixed it right and it goes to 31.59.OR they dont mix the pigment that day or dont mix it as well. but what do i know Im only I-car certified and worked for a DUPONT jobber for 9 years and have been to tons of Dupont classes up and down the west coast.

I don't know what kind of paint you guys are using....but in the bay area....Water paint is the only paint that is legal to spray. I use Standox and Spies Hecker. It takes at least gallon and a half to two gallons to do a complete. With 10% water added to the paint. PPG is 20-30% water added...Coverage is even worse.

So three quarts reduced would be a lil more than a gallon, would that be enuff to spray a 5.0?

Or do i just go ahead & buy the whole gallon????

What i really want is some good clear, a clear that will shine with alott of gloss when I buff N polish it. A clear that will give it that "wett" look.

use transtar the red and black label... If you can find it.

http://www.restorationshop.com/ this is where i get all my paints and clears. 3 quarts will be cutting it close if you paint all jambs too. I painted my brothers 5.0 and out of a gallon had about 1-1/2" of paint left in the bottom of a gallon can. That was with (4) coats of base
