^ Really? We are in debt up to our eyeballs in this state and this is a great idea? I'm so sick and tired of this damn state & the retards who keep voting for this kind of crap.
Our community college's are packed now.... With people getting money to go for free ( or damn near free ) it's gonna take even longer for kids to get their degrees.

What is it going to take to make California voters realize they need to wake up and vote for budget minded people? Does the whole state need to go bankrupt? How about even higher
taxes and bridge toll. Oh and CARB is getting worse and worse.... I know how much we all love smog laws.

Well said....all of this is true. All the avenues for free @?!!^ and American born people are last to get help at all; and offered shat!!!! If any!!!! ..... How the fork do "we"work and pay taxes funding these programs all these years and at times of high layoff rates, foreclosures and market crash if you will. ....We can't get approved for any of these very same programs. Nobody's judging Hispanics in this thread - or if they are, it's a mark of ignorance - because that's not what this is about. An illegal who wants to go to school, regardless of nation of origin, should take the responsibility to become a nationalized citizen, pay taxes, and support the system that has been and will continue to provide for them and support them.

The argument that that US citizens are passing on the opportunity to attend college is somewhat correct - some are/some aren't. However, if you've had any experience with the JC system over the past 10 years or so, you'd realize how difficult it is to get into the classes that you need, and, once registered, how overcrowded those classrooms are.

In my eyes, it boils down to this: 1) All people need to be treated fairly and justly, regardless of nation of origin; 2) A citizen in their own country should have first rights and first access to the government-sponsored educational, health, and occupational institutions that they, the taxpayer, continue to fund

I realize your role on this site is to go against the popular opinion whenever you pop your head up ever 3-4 months or so. I get that.

However, do you truly not see the passing of this Dream Act as a way to make our citizens second in line in their own country? I agree that it may have the positive, intended effect that you mentioned, but to do so at the expense of those that either a) grew up in this country, or b) nationalized is a disservice to those kids trying to further their lives through education. As Americans (please, spare me the rhetoric), we need to have priority in our own country, no questions asked.

I was looking around and found some reactions to the DREAM Act:

"We have American citizens without jobs, families homeless, and hungry, and tax payers are supposed to pay to take care of illegals, and now send them to college. When is this nightmare going to end."

"Ok brown, how about some relief for us LEGAL US citizens who went to college and now are in a mountain of debt, like me [Big Grin] !!!!"

I immigrated to this country, almost a decade later finally became a citizen, had to join the Army to get the GI Bill cause that was the only way I could afford to pay for college so I think I've earned the right to say if you're illegal in this

How is my statement absurd? If they refuse to come to the country legally then what makes you think they are going to spend a majority of the money here? The US is where most of Mexico's money comes from, people here sending money back. So an illegal is going to take some classes, get some sort of education and then what? What company is going to employ them? Sure, a small landscaping company or a construction company will be able to get away with it but its not like they are going to walk in to some fortune 500 company and get an office with a window.

First of all California is the cheapest state to enroll in school by far and second of all how do you expect to people to get their papers there is a huge waiting list. Alot of people bitch and complain about how the court system is so slow well guess what that's true it's not an easy or short process. One thing I'm hearing you guys say is that citizens are going to be shut out by this but because illegals are going to take their place. Let me ask you this. Did you guys even go to college? Every single class I attended started with a full enrollment and two weeks later only half the class is there and four weeks later in the more rigorous courses 3/4 of the class is gone so I don't want to hear that argument. Sure we have to pay more taxes in the long run since it's so "easy" to get your papers theyll have good jobs and pay more taxes.

-If injured recieve emergency care, even if can't pay for it.
-Drive without a DL..... If you are pulled over, you can call
someone with a DL to drive your car for you.
-Have a child born in that country automatically giving you and your child a right to stay.

Oh and all of these great things are gonna be paid for by the TAX paying people of that country.... While you soak up all the greatness & wealth that country has to offer you.

....Canada. well, not sure about the getting someone with a DL to retrieve your car part. isn't that up to the LEO on the scene of the incident instead of a entitlement to you? anyways thats small potatoes compared to the birth right part (anchor babies)which Canada does offer

By the way you need paystubs to rent a home and to recieve paystubs you need to have a job where you need proof of citizenship or residency and to have that you can't be "illegal" so there goes your theory.

Sorry to tell you guys but illegals are here to stay and I don't like it, and Mexicans aren't the only illegals here. They should just make it simple, if they are here illegally then they should get no help from the Government, shouldn't even be a discussion in our Government. The drivers license thing kills me, if they dont have a license then they should suffer the same thing as a legal citizen plus get deported. Also for the people, who don't know me, I am half Mexican, my Dad was an illegal and so was part of my older Family and didn't get any Government help, but they figured out a way to survive and become citizens. We should give the same love as the Mexican Government gives a US citizen in Mexico. Watch what happens if you get in a car accident with a Mexican Citizen and it's their fault, you will miss the USA real fast. But with all the illegal Mexicans here, you would think Mexican Food would be better, I really miss the real stuff, I try to go back home once a year to eat, and a burrito isnt real Mexican food and shouldnt be on any menu in a real Mexican Restaurant.

so according to your calculations the problem america has with identity theft is because of illegal aliens, hmmm. Legal citizens here steal all the time I used to work loss prevention and guess what the people who we would catch performing identity theft ranged from all kinds of people black, white, jewish, latino, asian, african, european dont just single a certain group out that ridiculous.

I'm all for equal rights! They have a right to become a citizen, get a job, pay their damn taxes, and if they want school then they can pay like everyone else! I couldn't afford college because I didn't live off my parents dime and I've been working since I was sixteen so I've payed plenty of taxes. I graduated 10th in my class with a 3.8 yet wasn't offered no college financial assistance! This is bullsh*t!
