winter as in snow, or winter as in california winter / rain?

for rain, the goodyear eagle f1 works pretty good in that size. I don't think anything will be a good snow tire in that size.

I got some 315 sumitommos off americanmuscle.com and they are cool, no issues with hydroplaning with the recent weather but don't expect too much traction from them

I've tried a European tires before called Vredestein, I believe they are Dutch made and fairly new to the United states market, I did try them on another car but the traction was amazing in dry and wet, the price for what you get is great.
Here is a link to a dealer in SoCal Performance Plus
And another Ebay link with some more information/comparison with other tires.
Keep in mind that with a wide tires your chance of hydroplaning is much greater.

+1 never go cheap on tires. they're the only part of the car touching the ground.

Nitto 555's are good in the rain.

I don't use my car in the rain bug I've been caught in it and I've never had hydroplaning issues.
