What's up everyone! I'm going to sell my truck with 1 year left on the note. I know a dealer will buy it. Are there ways to sell it privately?

Here's how I have seen it done before
1. Friend found someone selling the car for the exact balance left on the loan,he walked in with the seller to the credit union talked with the loan person filled out some paper work paid with money order, walked out with the title.
2. Old coworker sold car for let's say 15k, owed 5k the buyer had two checks one for 10k (seller) and one for 5k(finance company). Went to the bank filled out some paper work, they switched everything to the new owner and sent him the title.
It all depends on your finance company, ask your loan officer for advice

I hope you have a credit union and not a bank like Wells Fargo. My friend is selling his car today and has to send a money to a Wells Fargo location and they will send the title within a week or 2, thats a turnoff to buyers. Most credit unions you can walk in, pay and walk out with the title.

The bank is ally financial. It used to be GMAC. I don't believe there is an actual location where I could go into and do a pay off for the title. It would be through the mail or net. Personally that would be a no-go for me to hand someone money and wait for a title. I would want it up front.

I was in the same situation as you, and I informed the buyer that the truck was own by the bank.... I offer him to go to a notary so the notary can be a legal eye witness of money been paid for the truck, and that I was no longer in possession of vehicle.
Buyer agreed, sold it, paid the bank, got the tittle two weeks after, gave it to the new owner and it was a done deal

just put it for sale on craigslist or autotrader. They can always come to your bank and do the paper work. Its easy!
