That's exactly why I have no plans to huck mine. Its the attempts to get the speed right that cause the problems... too fast or too slow and you end up with a very expensive, very broken truck.
I have seen worse than that one though. There was a guy on the Raptor forum that hit a jump crooked at a pretty good clip. It pitched the truck very high on one side. It came down largely on the left front. He knocked the alignment out and the front corner of the bed put a dent in the back of the cab. I was surprised that he didn't break anything up front.
These are very tough trucks but some of these guys have far more money or far less sense than me. Probably both. [ June 02, 2011, 09:47 PM: Message edited by: iceman302 ]

Wasnt too hard for this dude, he got some sick air in his other videos. And there's a shit load of other sick videos out there of the truck jumping. Its almost like having a 4x4 without it ever hitting dirt, go get a porsche cayenne then.

they were built to jump.. so hes actually using it what its meant for..
I jumped my truck numerous times.. cracked a weld on my shock hoop, but no big deal.. gotta pay to play..
its kinda like when people buy cars and let them sit in the garage.. cars are meant to be driven, not sit in a garage its whole life.. [ June 02, 2011, 10:34 PM: Message edited by: 19mystic96 ]

I have fun with my truck but I don't beat the shit out of it.
Its funny that you mention his other videos. Here's a newer one. You can clearly see that he's trashed his truck. The skid plate and bumper are smashed in, one of the fenders is badly cracked, and he mentions that he's getting frame flex. He must be rich to destroy a brand new truck like that.

i kno its built for it but damn!!!! no warranty there kids
I wish I could find the thread, but a while back on Bayarearidersforum.com, a guy (lawyer) had a problem with his Ducati 1198 after taking it to a track day. I wanna say the rotors warped. He took it to the dealer to fix it under warranty and they denied it saying track days was pushing the bike beyond it's design limits or some BS like that. So the lawyer brought in every advertisement for the 1198 he could find, and even printed out off the Ducati web page for the bike showing that the bike is marketed as the ultimate track bike. The judge sided with him and he ended up getting his bike fixed for free and also got some other stuff in the settlement.
Ford markets the Raptor as the ultimate pre-runner. I'm pretty sure you could mount a similar defense and win.

There's a big difference between warped brake rotors from pushing your bike on a track and this. Body and frame damage from antics like this would never be covered under warranty.

This is the jump that was mentioned earlier. I too have a Raptor and while I have driven it across open desert and 80+ mph I dont think I am going to get into jumping too much. When I took it up to reno to do the desert running I am sure there might have been a few moments my tires left the ground due to the speed and terrain, but hitting a motorcross track and trying to jump things you should only do on a bike or quad is not desert prerunning. Just my .02

People with a lot of money can do shit like that its like that guy bought the truck to jump it on the weekends and make videos. Everybody uses their vehicle to their personal limit. I hate when people are worried about fucking up their rides but yet they mod them and jump them and race them, gotta pay to play.

I'll get vids next time.. Was dark and couldnt get any vids.. I'll be back In he day time to get some..
Completely understand buying a 50k (or more) truck and not wanting to jump it or abuse it.. But there are people who use them to the trucks limit.. Like the guy in the vid.. Just means he's willing to accept the consequences of breaking it when he lands wrong..
I bought my prerunner to jump and have fun with, granted it's worth a lot less than a raptor, but it gets the job done with a lot less money.. Ive gotten it a few feet off the ground numerous times and had a soft landing. The last landing I had came down hard on the right side wheel and cracked the shock hoop where it attaches to the frame and pushed the mounts up almost ripping them off the hoop Itself.. Welded it back on the next day and it's all good to go again..
