I really want a 65-66 fastback to put my touches on. I have been searching craigs high and low and rust buckets missing body panels are listed at 7K plus. Where did you guys find yours.

You and 3/4 of this message board are looking for cheap fastbacks along with hundreds of other people. You won't hear about a cheap fastback until someone is posting that they just purchased it. I know most of the people here found them on Craigslist and were fast at snatching the car up. Good luck, I hope you find one

Mine was a Sacramento Craig's List find 2-3 years ago. It was a very solid, almost rust free car. We found a little in the corners of the doors after sandblasting. It was basically a complete roller. I paid $5600 for it.

I'm in the same boat... I'm always on the look out for a deal on a FB. That'll be my next mustang. I'll let you know how cheap I got mine for once I snatch it up

I payed $1,500 for my fastback 10 years ago and sold the bare shell for 10K 5 years ago..

I dont know how much you are looking to spend, but I know of 2 for sale now. Brain Lee is the Owner of Classic motorsports and has 2. both need love and attention. Im not sure if they are on his website but all of the contact info is there classicms.us

Found mine on sac craigslist early this year It was cancer free roller with almost every thing but motor and trans and paid 7k for it. Good luck with your search took me almost 10 yrs to find the right one

yo you guys would jizz in your pants if you saw my friends grave yard of old fords but if he caught you out there hed probally scalp you alive. i've got an old indian friend up in healdsburg that has an amazing # of old model a's ford trucks and yes i've counted seven complete fastbacks thats not including the ones that are in need of extensive work. I met this guy about 15 years ago hes just an old indian that has no family.he is very stubborn though and will not sell anything to somebody he doesnt know. next time i'm out there i'll take pics so you guys can fantasize.

I found my fastback 20 years ago at a pawn shop in Albuquerque, NM for $1,500. I was 14 years old and spent many years restoring it. I still have the car and will never let it go...

Most people I know purchased their fastbacks at least 10 years ago. The rest where family/friends that where passed down.

I had been looking for a Fastback for the right price for a decade before i found mine. I only really really started looking agressively was maybe a year before i found mine. It was in the Newspaper. He wanted 7700 for it, fully complete except for an engine and primered black. I got it for 6k.
Just need to keep looking.

back in the late 80's my dad was offered a clean running 1968 fastback for 2k... and he didnt take it...regrets it now

crazy how prices just go up for classic muscle cars after all the publicity of the discovery channel shows (american hot rod, rides, etc...)

It is crazy. Back in the 80's Cow Palace car shows you could buy a fully restored fastback for 10k-15k. Crazy how the prices have jumped.

What breaks my heart is that my dad restored a 65 fastback when i was in grade school up until early high school. Back then I didnt have any money but I begged him to keep it for me and wait until I got my license and a job to pay him for it. He didnt want me driving an old school so he sold it. He ended up selling it to some kid for around $8000...fully restored, red on red, orginal/rebuilt 289, etc HELLA CLEAN. Later that summer "Gone in 60 Seconds" came out in the movies and FB prices hit the roof! I always told him he should've kept it, now everytime I remind him of how much a rusted piece of shit shell is he just shuts up My goal is to find that exact car and buy it back from whoever owns it...I'll try to scan some pics of it and post them up later.

DAMN I hope he does not watch the Meccum Auctions on the HDNetwork! Last month there was a documented and original 1970 Boss 302 that went for six figures. At the time it didn't seem as impressive because the fully restored and documented 429 Boss started at 100k.

If your driving on 80 east ( heading to sac ) there is a storage place on the side of the freeway in Davis...... Under a 1/2 way blown off car cover there's a 68 fastback sitting there. I see it every Thursday when I'm driving.
If someone is looking for a 68 you could try to offer a price on that one.

BTW I bought my car in 2000 and paid around 3,000 for mine. ( alot of rust 200 6cl / 3 speed car) we drove it home from a guy who lived 2 miles from the Pleasanton fairgrounds.... He sold the fastback to finish his tiger project.
