Most of you know that I came out to Cali last month to deliver and pick up a couple of Mustangs. I picked up a 2003 Azure Blue Mach 1...that needed a new motor, bad. Long story short, I traded some parts here and there, worked a few deals...and it's done. Here's a pictorial of the work...enjoy.
Dead motor...going to Kansas.

A rod that got a bit hyphy...

The build begins...

Fresh shortblock...

Fresh heads. All new springs, seals, 5 angle job...

Longblock done...

Back in, ready to go.

Thanks to Justin (lilstock3valve), Terrance (50deep), Aaron (Ttop50), and AED (Drew and Shaun) for helping me out with everything from parts to meeting up to lend a hand to make this happen while I was in Cali. The car turned out great...and under 30 days. I fired it for the first time last night...and it sounds great. Here's the combo:
Stock WAP block, power honed. Casting flash removed.
03 Cobra rotating assembly (Kellogg crank, Manley rods, Mahle pistons).
Mahle file-fit rings.
Clevite race-series bearings.
All new hardware (ford replacement mains, head bolts, etc)
Factory MLS head gaskets
Heads have a 5 angle valve job, milled, and all new hardware.
96-98 Cobra cams
Vortech Supercharger with 3.10 pulley and aftercooler
The rest of the drivetrain is stock, with the exception being the Steeda Shifter.
And yes, for the right price...it's for sale.
I had a helluva time finding the seats for the front. Then I came across www.car-part.com - it's a search engine for auto salvage yards. USE it. It rocks!

Must be nice to be able to build those cars so fast can't wait till you retire from the air force and come back out here and open you a shop. There something to be said who gets things done right and right now not too many shops with many mechanics gets cars done as fast as you and done right the first time. Can't wait to see your next project!

A few hours each day after work during the week, a few long days on the weekend. It helped having my son do the dirty work (cleaning parts, etc) not to mention being the driving factor to get it done so fast.

It worked out good, as I trailered a car out too. Not to mention I made a vacation out of the trip on the way back. Vegas, SLC, and Denver made it an enjoyable trip back.
