Yup, I know its a shocker, but its finally time for me to move on....

2003 Mach 1, 5 speed, Torch Red. 57,XXX miles, clean title. Entire top end rebuilt by Drew @ AED less than 1,500 miles ago.

=Performance mods=

-Maximum Motorsports K member, A arms, Bumpsteer kit, 325lb front coil overs, 225lb rear coil overs, caster/camber plates, full length subframe connectors, panhard bar, & XD lower control arms
-Bilstein HD Struts/shocks.
-Energy suspension polyurethane motor & transmission mounts.
-Centerforce dual friction clutch.
-03-04 Cobra aluminum flywheel.
-Maximum Motorsports clutch quadrant & firewall adjuster.
-MGW shifter.
-SSBC slotted brake rotors.
-C&L 85mm maf & intake tube.
-Roy's 3/8" intake spacer.
-LCD head cooling mod.
-Mac LT headers & o/r h pipe.
-Custom Bassani catback with SLP tips.

-BF Goodrich KDW2's 265/35/18 & 295/35/18 (plenty of life left).

Anyhow, I think thats about it. The car drives & looks like new, & has the best suspension money can buy. Both the paint, interior, & engine bay are super clean. Although I raced the car a little bit, this car is babied & is a garage queen 99% of the time. Oil changed less than every 3k miles since I rarely drive it... Its very hard to part with this car, but I am looking into getting a nice performance sedan... The car blue books @ $13,XXX in this condition & mileage, but with all the mods the car has I am pricing it @ $15,000. OBO....

LOL... Well whatever 03/04 Cobra you buy for "a little more" isn't going to have a full maximum motorsports grip box suspension which runs almost $4,000. Not to mention Longtubes, full exhaust, intake, tune, wheels, ETC. Plus the car has Cobra skirts, decklid/spoiler, & mirrors, have you ever priced any of these parts? Used the spoilers alone go for $300, not including the decklid & 3rd brake light, Cobra mirrors easily go for $200, as well as the sideskirts. All of this stuff adds up quickly to well over the $2000 over KBB price I am asking... Not to mention, have you seen how clean the car is???


Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, most 03/04 Cobra's you will find slightly above my price are most likely gonna have compression issues on the driver side....

I will sell the car for $13,000 right now in stock condition. Its well worth the price IMO.

Dustin, I honestly think you have the cleanest Mach 1 I have seen. That being said. I think you will be hard pressed to get your asking price on this car. Based on the economy and that you are asking for above blue book. you should sell your upgrades lower your asking price and it will probably sell. Im not sure how much you owe on it but you "might" have to take a small loss to get rid of it and get the car you want

Guys, I love the E39 M5 more than the CTS-V, but I'm afraid to own any type of beamer, let alone & high performance one. The car is gonna be my DD, & that means the beamer will need maintenance often, which will not be cheap...

not true.. price is close maybe 2k max diff.. stock they are close in speed giving the edge to the m5.. for a dd max youd want is intake,mid pipe and exhaust.. so mod per mod it will do just as good as a ls6,ls2 cts-v.. maybe a little less hp but it will more then make up for it in weight savings.. if youve ever owned a bmw youd know that they make exhaust system that can survive a atomic bomb.. outside the ctv looks okay but inside looks like shit.. the e39 m5 is the best m5... timeless

Like I said, I love the E39 M5 to death, but in my price range they will all be in the 50k-80k mile range. With the car being a DD, it wont take long to hit the 100k mile mark, & BMW maintenance gets pretty scary at that range. Perfomance wise, in stock trim they should be pretty even, but modded, I think the CTS-V has the edge. looks wise, I will agree, the M5 looks nicer inside & out, but CTS-V's are also great looking cars IMO....

I agree with you about the M5 being a better all around car, but the CTS-V can hold its own. It handles well for a big car, has large brembo brakes, rides smooth, has navigation, sunroof, heated seats etc. As far as the diff goes, yeah its brittle, but lets not forget, I am buying the car to be a fun DD, not my racecar, thats what my coupe is for. So honestly the cts wouldn't really get beat on very often...

Ummmm... I know BMW's better than most. My dad has driven a 3 series since 1991. Since I sold my Harley Davidson pickup, I'm borrowing his '02 330 that he has held onto since he bought his Cayman S. It has 177K on the clock and drives beautifully. There is no doubt that the drivetrains are nearly bullet proof. Its the ancillary stuff that will pummel your wallet... water pumps, fuel pumps, radiators, brake rotors, starters, HVAC controls/fans. Those are just a few of the items that can seriously bend you over if you happen to be unlucky or buy a car that's been poorly maintained.

Theres no way id buy a bimmer, unless it was brand new. I think it'd kill you in maintenance costs.. A ctsv is basically a fancy camaro, and camaros are cheap to maintain. Basic American car. Can't go wrong with that [burnout]

if you can wrench on a mustang, you can wrench on an e39 M5. Be friends with m5board.com, a million DIY threads on any maintainence issues you might ever run into. The forums they got there are better than any mustang forum I have ever run into, not a lot of BS stuff and if you got a serious question, you will get a thorough and serious answer.

If you get one, find one that has the stuff you want already done to it, save yourself a lot of dough.

Definately Test drive them like they are meant to be driven, its the only way to tell if its worth your money. I drove one out in Daly City that was an absolute turd and woulda needed a 2-3 grand to get back into decent shape.

I ended up getting a 1 owner car lowered on dinan springs/adjustable bilsteins, tinted, short throw kit, upgraded brakes/lines, upgraded sway bar links, new tranny, new water pump, etc etc for 17k with a full carfax report from day 1. Deals are out there.

No no... No apologies are needed. Opinions are like assholes.... Anyways. Yes the diff's in the 04-05 cars suck, I e already replaced mine, 06-07's don't have the issue. And stock for stock a CTS will take an M5, ask me how I know, and even after modding I still think the LS6 is capable of more power. The M5's are nicer, also more expensive so that's to be expected. Not sure how much a M5 weighs but my CTS weighs in at 3,820.... Not bad for a big car ide say, yet it handles and brakes better than my Cobra ever did. and as far as the taillight comment goes..... Ya,I just don't see that happening N/A....

Love the E39... own one myself, but >$20K for 10yr old car that is insanely expensive to maintain is... well... insane, lol.

My vote is sell the Mach1, and daily drive the fox for a few years. Just be smart about where you leave it, use an alarm and an anti-theft device, and enjoy!

im not sure what it traps..my buddy with a 96 cobra traps 111 and i run away from him.. ive ran bolt on 03 cobras and beat them from a 40 and 60 roll.. you want 50 ..i want 60.. lets do 55? iced out gtp can come too..hehe

There's only been two times I've gone out in a group and ran my car. Once was with a fat ass buddy in the car the other was with 2 girls in the back seat lol. Just saying! Also, the car is currently stock with the exceptions of a air filter and no mufflers lol so go ahead and go off of that! I mean, it did pull a AED built 331 fox 3 times, and a done up bolt on Mach, among other "quick" cars. The car runs 13.1 @113 not saying it's "fast" but I'm saying it's enough to play! [Smile] a cam, longtubes and a tune should make me even more competitive.... And ya I'm a roll racer... What about it? Lol it's a Cadillac for fucks sake lol.

Mach916, 55 is still sweet spot for 4.30's or hell, maybe you have 4.56's.... I know how that goes, I had a 4V once [Wink] although 55 might work for me, deff not in my favor. Oh well.... I'll work with it, so you can say you got the 4,000lb caddy by a car [Wink] lol

actually my sweet spot is 67 but i like to start at 60 because my cars tune is off. i think if we ran id win by atleast 3 cars and pulling. you car is basically as fast as a ls2 gto.. let the weather clear up ill shot you a pm.. im changing my set up a little bit too..maybe we can do it after you get your parts.. all good win or lose.

yes it was directed at you..haha im just messing around.. i couldnt remember you sn when i was quoting ctsv guy and iced out gtp came to my head..haha your 440 hp doesnt really worry me.. ive raced my buddys 420hp tt 350z and 03 supercharged m3 450hp and held my own.. and those are 3300 pound cars.. my buddys dont understand how i can beat them either..i guess youll find out that feeling to [dance]

So Mach916, both of the former modded 4V owners don't know what they're talking about? I'm telling you, all my car needs is 370rw to say by bye to you, and I will hang as it sits. I'll be right at 400/390 give or take a few, after my round of mods. Dave has us both in the bag, so don't feel too bad! Hahaha!

And! Is it me or does everyone forget about gearing? I'm not talking just rear end gears (I have 3.73's stock, dunno about G8's) but the tranny ratios!! Don't know about the G8's but the V's have Z06 ratios, the car never falls out of power, I think it makes the car what it is really....
