Okay so I got stopped by some officers on Saturday night. I was with my some friends in a parking lot. Well they ran our ID and plates while we are there. They tell us to be on our way so we do. Well I go home which is across town from where I was. 2 hours later one of the officers from that encounter drive to my house and check the cars that were in front of my house. He gives one of them a no front plate ticket. I actually don't care that much but man is this dude going to look for me? This cop was the backup officer that came that night

He had to meet his performance goal he didn't hit his number so he looked up your addy then went looking over your cars to find something he could write up and he did

I'm gonna go file a complaint at least. All BS aside I never said anything to him and he seemed a little pissed that officer A didn't get us for drag radials. He told him twice about them.

I didn't say anything to this dude. He was cop C that showed up. Cop A and B were the ones talking to us and cop C just had the task of running plates

They don't have quotas, they have weekly meetings where they go over department and city budgets and how the city/department is doing. That is when the sergeants and lieutenants push for more tickets; the more you write (obviously more money for city), the better you look and you get a hi five infront of your department.

So your gonna file a complaint against the cop for writing a ticket on your car that did not have no plate? You will get far with that. Its part of the game man. Everyone on this board for years has been through BS because of cars. I say chalk it up, its part of the game. Front plate ticket is nothing . My problem is a police officer coming to my house to check on me . After a traffic stop that yielded nothing. Also the 2 cars that are not in my name with no plate dont get anything.

That's all bad did you confront the officer and let him know your reporting him to IA this guy has a weird issue with you . Make sure you document it all and how he only went after your car for the fix it ticket and came back a second time to look over your car to try to get you on something else. Ya that sounds good, you should sit down with everyone, come up with a lie like you said then go file the complaint. Are you kidding me? I hate people that do fucked up shit then want to lie or place blame on everyone else. If he is harrassing you, then do what you have to do, but coming up with a bullshit story, sorry but that is stupid and ignorant. Put on the front plate, take off the exhaust, put your shit back to stock and you will have nothing to worry about. Of course that's what he said, police quotas are illegal in California. So, now they refer to it as "performance goals". And, I guarantee that if your brother's city has a financial crunch, they WILL institute quotas (oops, I mean performance goals)

In any case, I got my first no front plate ticket 23 years ago. I then realized how stupid I was, giving cops a legitimate reason to pull me over anytime they wanted. Anyone who is young or is on the edge of vehicle legality is stupid for having tinted windows, loud exhaust (even more lame if their engine is stock) or no front plate.

Peace officers have authority in the entire state of California. The car cited was parked in a roadway which is a public place so there is no law violated.

There are no quotas.

well sounds like that cop really got over on u by changing a fix it ticket to a infraction/parking ticket. i would file a complaint on that and screw him over and get out of the ticket. o yea its called shareing info i was trying to help you and give you a heads up.

File a harassment lawsuit with Internal Affairs. They will take care of it, and grab a camera every time hes at your house, document and date and initial everything.

FYI fix it tickets are now $25 per violation. Parking with no front plate is $28. I had a tint, plate and drag radial which was $75 corrected . That started in 2010. Lol

i didnt once ask for "advice" but i thank people that chimed in. i dont think there is nothin wrong with telling people that a fix it ticket is no longer $10. i also dont need people telling me what my ticket is when it is in my hand.

Seems like if he isn't harassing you physically or verbally, he could easily have a probable cause to just patrol that area for violations. It would be different if he was doing something and you were in no way breaking laws. Apologize to the guy, end it on good terms and maybe he'll be cool with you next time. Stirring stuff up because you got caught will probably only bring more heat to you.
