Just bought a 65 Fastback and need to start getting some minor work resto work done, simple stuff but stuff I'd rather leave in the hands of a shop. Heard good things from 2 different people, just wanted to see if anyone else had experience with them here.
Been 4 years since I last owned a Mustang, but looks like I'm diving right back in

They did some suspension work on my '70 Torino with good results. But, as with any restoration shop, the high dollar customer gets priority and I had to repeatedly call (and annoy) them to get my work finished. Mustang Ranch is 100000x worse if you're not a long time customer or spending $$$$. But, I would definitely go back to Mustang Fever if I ever had the need

Thanks for the feedback. I never planned on going to Mustang Ranch, I haven't had a good experience with them in the past and their prices are
.
It's not a ton of work, just a few little things that I don't have time for but need to get addressed sooner than later. I'm not in a rush either, the car is probably safer there than at my house, because one of the "small" things is that the door locks are all jammed up and need to be replaced!

just looked it up it is the same place i was thinking. They did my weather strip in my 67 back in 01 when my 67 was in top shape and they did a bad job. They wouldn't fix it and when i asked them about it( i gave them no attitude just asked if they could take a look and fix it) they said something along the lines of your car is nothing special and that's as good as they were going to do with it for me "thats as good as your going to get"
they were really rude and "snobbish" what crap!. Mind you the car was in perfect working order and looked pretty damn good at the time and was very well taken care of, no rust ran perfectly never broke down(still doesn't break down to this day). as for the bad job, the weather strip would pop out in places, it would have pieces hanging and dangling and it didn't fit right and the windows wouldn't seal right or line up as result. waste of a grand or two I forget what I paid........ I took it their because my neighbor who had a pos straight 6 that was in pretty bad condition compared to mine took it in there and they were happy with the work, so I was shocked when I got the service, or lack their of and horrible work...I am not one to cry racism but at the time I couldn't help but notice the different levels of service between me and my neighbor and think that.. maybe it was because they spent like 5 -10k and I only spent a grand but something was foul about that place and I swore not to return...
everyone deserves a second chance though so good luck if you do end up going with them
but i will never go back! from that point on we did most of the work ourselves on the 67
again good luck

Im not here to blash anyone but both places charge you an arm and a leg. Mustang fever charged one of my buddie $3,000 for a front disk brake convertion on his 65, but thwy quoted him like $1,500 It seemed like they found something that neede replacing every day and they racked up the bill
My cousin went to the mustang ranch to jet his tko tranny installed in his 93 coupe. $2,000 just to install, the dude who installed it was a dumbass litle punk kid who drove teh ar out like he owned it
I say know the poeple before you do business with them, it is your hard earned money they are joy riding on...

Thanks for the feedback guys. I am swinging over there today just to get a quote on some of the stuff I need taken care of, it isn't high dollar work so I hope I don't get the same service as noted above. I'll come back in here and let you guys know if this place has changed or if I get a different vibe....

If they are still being dicks let em know they are already gettin negative feedback in the mustang world and it's already online and that u will be also givin them that same negative feedback to us. If your gonna run a business, u shouldn't be a nicer person jus cause a dollar sign goes up. That's just my opinion on it. I haven't dealt with that place but jus from reading about them on here I won't ever go there.

You guys that have had bad or good experience should Yelp these people. You'd be surprised how many people use Yelp.

Try and make time to do the work yourself. You'll get the job done the way you want with spending hardly anything. The two shops mentioned above sound like they are crap shops. I have ordered parts from Mustang Plus and thats it, i've seen their work and it looks good but i don't know about their service.

Listen to this man! You should look up his resto build.

Don't know if you took your car in already but if you wouldn't mind the drive to Hayward, abc mustang is the place to go. It's a 1 man shop and the Jerry always exceeds my expectations. I highly recommend him to anyone who needs work done on a classic mustang. He has a limo 66 stang that he built at the shop too.

Went there yesterday and talked to Mitch, the owner. Real nice guy, talked shop for a bit and he even showed me his personal project fastback. Just so we know what we're talking about, I was quoted $380:
Cut the rear fenders (as opposed to roll them).
Change both door locks and get the lock mechanisms functional
Change trunk lock
Change hood latch and pin
Remove wheel locks from 4 wheels (didn't have the key, standard lock removers can't fit around the locks because of wheel clearance issues)
Granted I could have done the locks and latches for the parts cost (probably $50-100 on the internet) but I still would have had the fenders and lock removal done somewhere. Decided on just cutting the fender on the inside instead of rolling them to avoid body damage, only needed about an extra 1/2 inch of clearance.
I don't have the car back obviously so the work and service is still to TBD, but so far so good. Didn't get a bad vice from the guy and he took about 30 minutes to go over the car with me.

Got the car back yesterday, all the work was done properly and Mitch even spent about 20-30 minutes going over the car and pointing out all the little things and interesting pieces that I might want to fix/replace in the future.
Can't say that I experienced anything bad, could be because it was minor work that he could make a quick buck on and wasn't a major job that was difficult, but I wouldn't hesitate to point someone there for maintenance.
