Wait, whats your question? Do you want suggestions to what type of equipment to buy?
$500 is such a tight budget for good sounding music.
What are your goals? SPL? SQ?

what's funny is I can't figure out where the hell they get 2000 watts from on that package. The amp is 600rms and 1200 max, makes no sense to me at all.

The thing about that set up is the box. You will never get the full potential of those subs because the chambers in the box are too small. Because of this, you will lose alot of the lower frequencies that people most desire.
If your willing to build a box yourself, or have someone build it, I would suggest going with better subs.

Too bad your not in the bay area because there are a bunch of local shops that hook it up. Look for a local shop near you and I bet you will find great deals. Hit the shops in the commercial/warehouse areas. good luck

I just got a brand new Audiopipe 3000 watt RMS amp for 312 shipped off eBay. I did a ton of research before I picked it up and it does above rated without a problem. There's also a 1500 watt version for around 150 shipped as well, this would push just about anything you'd throw at it. Here's a couple links, these are the guys that I purchased mine from, I'd recommend them hands down!
here's the 3000 watt
here's the 1500 watt

Well i have had this one woofer setup for a while, and i think it is time to update.
I currently have a alpine type r, kenwood 1000watt.
This is where i think im gonna go with it.
AMP http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_12017_Alpine-MRP-M1000.html
only question is how do i run two subs with this amp, do i just take two wires out of each side (positive and neg) to the subs?
SUBS http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_24357_Alpine-SWR-1223D.html
Im gonna run 2 of these. well only one, the other sub is the type r model before this version, also runs has 2 ohms resistance.
My main question is, the required square footage on these speakers for a sealed box is a minimum of 0.65 sq ft - maximum of 1.25 sq ft. Will i get the best sound out of these woofers with a total of 2.5 sq ft box? I really want to hit the low notes good this time. what happens if you go over the maximum sq footage on the box?

To wire both subs on the one channel amp you are gonna need to wire them parallel at 2 ohms which is very simple. Going over 2.5 feet won't be a problem as long as you insulate the box.
