I know many of you on the board are just like me:
-caught the whole "Get Fast" bug
-Young college or even high school student
-trying to balance having a active social life
-working to support yourself/car

Well to truly get fast I figured it out.. Just live by a strict budget for a few months.. The real killer is FOOD!!!

Here's how I cut back.

wow, I'm all for saving money but if that's your sole diet you really should ditch the soda for water and at least mix in some frozen chicken breast that you can grill, or make a huge batch of lasagna which you can eat for a week or 2...

Don't even trip guys. Many on this site are overly critical. Being that I also work full time in the morning, go to a university full time at night, and want to be fast I know how you guys feel. I do the same of living at home until I graduate and my parents don't really worry about cooking all the time since me and my siblings can all fend for ourselves. But it is amazing how much money you waste a day/month on food. $4 in the morning for breakfast, $5-8 on lunch and a drink at work, and another $5-8 after class if the parents didn't cook or there is no leftovers. That's nearly $20 a day that you waste on food that isn't really healthy either. Yeah we can all cook mass amounts of food but during finals week, mid-terms or when you gotta stud there isn't always time. Sometimes depending on your job its impractical to try and carry a full days worth of healthier perishable food with you when you leave the house in the morning @ 7am and don't get home until 11pm that night after class or studying. For a long time I lived off of cereal & milk, noodles, frozen chicken breats/nuggets, canned soup and $5 footlongs. And I still do minus the high sodium items. Spending $60 on cheap food that will hold you over for weeks isn't a bad idea. And if your disciplined enough to institiute money saving options into your budget and route that money to your car than why not. Not everyone starts out a baller, and everyone here has cut back on going out or buying junk food so you can afford that new set of heads, wheels, tires, blower etc.

^ Just because you aren't fat, doesn't mean you are healthy. I'd really pay attention to the school work and pursue that over a $10 an hour job, you will be much happier in the long run.

haha. rite on 50. i see you had some haters on you carbon fiber stickers. They do not look ricer btw just different. Car looks good though, Although, the stainless would have went good with your chrome saleeens. But i understand you want to be different from the million other termis. As for Cali95gt, He is my cousin and that is my food on there as well. It seems like someone always has something to say when he post up, but we have an answer for everything we do or say. even you understand $20.00 a day... i dont eat breakfast though. But 12 or 14 a day is actually what i spend. Add the up, that is $98 a week on food. mutiply that by 4 your spending $392 on food a month. not including going out on weekends or filling up. if your like us our stangs is our dailys for th time being. so gas can be a b**ch.

You are Young and I am sure a few top ramen meal's is'nt going to make a drastic change to Your health, so good for You Bro keep doing what You are doing and more importantly make a plan and stick to it! Plan what part's are going to work togeher, with what You already have, sell what is'nt going to be needed, and in what order You are going to buy and install the part's. Post u Your plan's and get some input to make sure You are heading down the rite path as a few of Us have been down this road before .

I guess at the end of the day, if you have a car that your proud of and can look back at the sacrifice and struggle you put yourself through to get it to that point then a couple top ramen meals and store brand sodas are worth it. Older guys around here should be able to relate because we've been through the struggle before. I just wouldnt eat top ramen as a dinner item, or mac and cheese. Those dishes are like side dishes meant to be served with your bigger meal. This shits not healthy at all. BTW caligt95 lets see your car pics, lets see what your eating those top ramen meals for!

I'm not into bench racing, but im guessing a 351w can hold as much boost as your carpet blower. If you want to get fast start with a better car than the sn95. Or hell blow your fucking mind and get yourself a little bike to go 160 in, i dont care. Fast is a hobby and unless your building something to bring to grudge races or track night there's really no payback besides the grin on your face.

Cali95GT, I think I met you, or maybe some of your boys, when I sold the black ponies to you guys.

Anyway, you do seem like a cool cat, BUT I think that if you seriously want to mod your car, save your money and dont make yourself suffer. Cars ARE NOT good investments and anyone who has dealt with project cars knows this. If you want to invest some money the right way, sell the car that you're dumping all your money into and save for a house. Now THAT'S an investment.

Good luck with your build and I wish you all the best, but I really think you're using your money UNwisely.

I'm not into bench racing, but im guessing a 351w can hold as much boost as your carpet blower. If you want to get fast start with a better car than the sn95. Or hell blow your fucking mind and get yourself a little bike to go 160 in, i dont care. Fast is a hobby and unless your building something to bring to grudge races or track night there's really no payback besides the grin on your face.

Just trying to understand what wxactley building a car for freeway roll's is all about? If You build a car up rite then it will trap 130-140 in the 1/4 mile which would seem plenty fast enough to fill te need for speed rite? Going any faster than that on public road's is silly! You are risking innocent peoples lives at damn near 1/2 these speed's & not to mention Your own life and car. I thought freeway built car's were car's with no torque or a poorly built drivetrain which should be a strong point for RWD V8.

Actually he would be saving money in the long run if he eats like that more often. Like I said before I use to spend about $14 on food a day. $7 after school and $7 on my lunch..That's $98 a week and $392 a month. But now I got a shit load of spaghetti Os, top ramen, and Safeway brand sodas for a total of $30 and can get 2 weeks out it. So I'd be spending around $60 a month on food compared to $392. Do the math, go back to school, Make better money so you don't have to live in the boondocks away from civilization with no city life or night life in that boring ass town of yours. Next time you want to be a Smartass make sure you think before you talk.
