don't know which one to go with....

ruger sr9 compact or glock 19

I'm leaning towards the glock

my cousin got glock.. look good..

Im not a fan of Ruger, but do own a couple Glock's. They are fantastic weapons. A bit much kick in the .40 and .45ACP, but super reliable.

GLOCK 19 FTW. imo glocks have reliability of a ak and the accuracy of a AR [patriot]

9mm under 600, easy choice, XD9 by Springfield Armory. You get a carry case, clip holder, and 2 clips for 549 depending where you go. Most people swear by Glocks but i HATE HATE HATE their grips. Try the XD, grip holds better than the glock, little more weight for increased recoil handling, and massive positive reviews for piece of mind. Look it up, Take a buddy and go to Target Masters in Milpitas and rent it. see what you think. -Joe

I held the springfield, didn't like it too bulky

I have small hands so that's y I was between the g19 or ruger sr9 compact....I liked how the ruger shot I still need to try the g19

will be used for home defense/open carry

Interesting you say that, i consider myself to have small hands and viewed the glocks as big and bulky, couldnt get a comfortable grip/hand position. Each person is diff. Good luck to ya.

Glock 17/19/34. With a little work they can be used in competition.

The glock 19 is a great gun and cheap to shoot!!

Glock without a doubt.

Look up the huge Ruger recall a couple years ago.

The 33-rounder is a nice accessory (out of Cali). [Wink]

I have small hands too, that's why I picked the XD9 over a glock.. If u have smaller hands then the glock should feel more bulky then the xd's.. I now have an xd40 that I bought from fasthatch and I love that gun.. I feel like the cd is a safer gun too. Not sure if u owned guns before but the xd has the trigger safety and the palm safety too and the pin and rail that sticks up when there is a round in the chamber..
SW mp was a nice smooth gun too..

No, thats crap.

You want the M&P series.

I picked mine up brand new from Bass Pro a couple months ago. It was $549 (plus tax and DROS)and S&W has a $50 mail in rebate until October 3rd. The 9mm is the same price. If you get the .40, you can buy a conversion barrel to shoot 9mm...

The glock feels cheap to me compared to the S&W or the XD. I had an XD9 and that was a really nice gun too.

I'll try the s&w and the springfield

Pick each weapon up and see how it feels in your hands. See if you are comfortable with the grip.

I don't like polymer guns either. Recoil with them sucks. Shooting my buddy's Glock .40 is way less fun than my 1911 .45.

Actually out of all my handguns, I shoot my .22 the most. It's the most fun and accurate one I got.

I have that Ruger and dont like it much. It was a impulse buy. I like my Sig better. But you cant go wrong with the Glock.

a 9mm doesn't have all that much recoil anyway and like I said im just gonna have it for home safety and open carry so doesn't have to be the best gun in the world

I've owned and carried a Glock 23 for almost 15 years, have put apporximately 10,000 rounds through it and field strip and clean it maybe once a year, it has jammed once in that time and that was because I fed it cheap wolf ammo, I love you fire guys but please stick to hoses. The guns are not plastic and they are far from cheaply made crap.

They go bang every time you pull the trigger and have a lifetime warranty. If it ever breaks for any reason, send it back and they'll fix/replace it for free, no questions asked.

have my mind set on a 9mm

Posted by fstryde3 (Member # 8436) on :

Also just my two cents if this is n fact going to be your home defense weapon

1. Do not purchase the cheapest thing you can find a low price gun may be nice but the magazines etc will most likely be crap.

2. Step up to a .40 forget the 9mm.

3. Purchase good quality Hollow Point ammunition, save the cheap stuff for the range, FMJ go through stuff and some cheap HP ammo doesn't fully expad and gets caught in baggy bulky clothing which is basically what every person breaking into your place wears.

4. Go to a range that lets you rent weapons and fire a few before you make a purchase, the first time you have to shoot at a live target it is not like paper targets.

Sometimes you post the most ignorant shit I have ever read in my life.

Glock pistols are used all over the world by law enforcement/military (including 65% of the US). Millions were produced and they are battle proven as one of the most reliable pistols ever.

Regardless of how you feel about a certain pistol, you cannot deny it's reputation and existing usage.

You believe what you read on Wikipedia? You do see the "Edit" button on the top right of that website? I can log in and write whatever i want about Glocks.

You do realize that the Government and State give contracts to the LOWEST bidder so just because Law enforcement and Military use it doesn't mean its quality.

Glocks feel like cheap plastic guns to me, but that's my opinion.

I would suggest the OP narrow it down to 2-3 that you are interested in and shoot them at a local range. Get a feel for each one and make your OWN decision on what works best for you.

Look into the CZ's I have a CZ75 P-01 (Compact 9mm) It's a great feeling 9mm, the slide rides inside the rail, and the grip feels great and it's very narrow. It's very "sig like" and very accurate. It's my favorite pistol I have shot and that's a lot of guns... Look into the CZ brand, they're good pistols.

Don't get me wrong I got me a 9 too but that's not what's next to the bed at night. You could also get yourself a 120lb German rot that helps he's my ears and warning when I'm asleep

Haha true... I like all pistols, but this is my favroite 9mm. You NEED to go hold one and you'll be sold.

CZ 75 P-01
A CZ 75 Compact variant intended for law enforcement use, with an aluminum alloy frame, decocker and under-barrel accessory rail. It is the new weapon of choice for the Czech National Police. It received NATO certification after undergoing extensive testing. Its NATO Stock Number (NSN) is 1005-16-000-861

just go out to the range and rent a few of the guns you are considering and fire away. When I was shopping fr my first gun I tried out the Glock, Sig, and XD...the SIg felt teh most solid, with the XD coming very close in "comfort and feel" when I tried it. The glock, although a very affordable and light weight pistol , just felt too bulky and square in my hands. I ended up getting a SIG P226 .40 cal. I love the damn thing and liek I said earlier, it shoots VERY smoothly. It is a bit heavier of the three choices but due to its metal body, the recoil is absorbed very well and makes the gun a very comfortable shooter...again, this is all my opinion. You need to just find the gun that best suites your needs and feel sbest in your hands. I also have a MOssberg 12ga pump that I have in case someone wants to fuck with me in my house [Wink]

then who cares what 9 you buy get whatever feels comfortable to you. At your price range. Your obviously not a competition shooter and your not relying on it everyday like mr law enforcement. Sounds like your stuck on a glock.

Well Ok get the houge insert factory night sights rails of course and buy the .40 cal.

Now you want to shoot 9mm 40 or .357 in the bitch well you can.

You will need new barrels that are around 120 a piece and even though the 9mm will fit in the 40 magazine it is recomended you get the 9 mm magazines to prevent jams. The 357 will fit and not jam in the 40 mags.

So there you go you have the ability to shoot 9mm .40 and .357 thru the same gun.

http://www.lonewolfdist.com/ (info on the barrels)

Pistols can be good for sub 2" groups at 25yds, 90% of people couldn't keep a 10" group at 20 feet. Buy whatever fits your price, read, practice, dry fire. It doesn't matter the caliber or if it is semi/revolver.

I pretty much only shoot my S&W 327pd 8 shot .357 revolver now. It just punches holes over and over again and will hit a 12" square at 100yds. -

FN-five seven, Very nice weapon! I would not use it for home defense cause you can easily send a round thru the wall killing little becky next door or someone in the next room. [patriot]
