Some idiot ran my car through the smog test last year when I told him to only do a pre-test. My car failed and now I have to get it re-smogged. Makes it that much more expensive now to get it done..

Why do we even have this B.S test when everyone gets in done illegally anyways?!! Shit now I just gotta pay more [Mad]

Buy a pre-'75 or buy a new car every 7 years. That's what I did. I haven't smogged a car in like 15 years. LOL.

I have never bought a new car. I thought the smog for a new car was every 4 years?

Don't let no one do something that could mess up with your DMV. Is like telling someone that drives your car, hey put 91 octane ONLY. Guess what you know the gonna f**** up and put 87

Move to calaveras county. Smog once when you buy a car then never again.

Transfer of a car less than 4 years old is exempt from the smog test. If you buy a new car, it's exempt from testing for 6 years, which means on the 7th year, you have to smog it.

Not everyone does it illegally...well if you consider non-oem color spark plug wires and chrome colored valve covers a legitimate reason to fail you on a smog..then yeah it is illegal (don't ask..it happened to me).

Where did you bring your car for smog so I can remind myself never to bring any of my cars there..pm me...kind of reminds me of the smog guy that failed me because he said a CEL was coming up when I knew very well that there was no CEL coming up (ran the codes myself before and after plus eliminated with a tune). It turns out the guy just wanted me to come back so he could charge me again for smog at a slightly discounted rate (I guess he was trying to get extra money so I told him..that's a negative..I am going to another shop) [Roll Eyes]

CA,CARB and these smog places are out of control I'm not saying you should show up to a shop with no mufflers or cats and be pissed but some of the stuff they do is a mess!

Ya I had a bad day with smog today too. I just moved and my car had been non optd for the past 3 years, in moving I left extra parts at my parents house. Including the plastic radiator cover that had ALL of my carb compliant stickers on it. Whoops. Guy would only smog it if stickers were there. I'm worried as well cuz I'm running an msd distrib. And don't think its carb legal.
*edit*
Just found out my distrib. is legal but i dont have a sticker for it. Any ideas or help?

You don't need an EO for the dizzy, it's a factory replacement item.

My car passed 2day. Nice! If a shop is worried about the little things I would just go somewhere else. Good luck out there guys. [patriot]
